The publisher name may have changed slightly (what with the Namco-Bandai combo), but Bandai's fevered output of anime-licensed fighting games hasn't slowed one bit. That being said, the latest Naruto offering will enjoy a surprising bit of innovation - or at the very least, modification - over the endless, cookie-cutter, anime-inspired brawlers Bandais been releasing for the past few years. In Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2, an ancient organization which was long thought disbanded is alive and in search of several orbs to resurrect a mechanical horror that will ravage the land. It's now up to Naruto and all the Hidden Leaf Genin to join forces with those of the Hidden Sand Village to stop this menace.

This year's NASCAR game from EA Sports finds the series in a year of rebuilding, but that's just fine for the game since it's a good time to introduce some changes -- the sport it follows is also seeing a big shift in the 2008 season, and the platform slate for NASCAR 08 has also broadened since this will be the first next-gen entry for the series.

Formula One's most famous export of recent years, Juan Pablo Montoya, has managed to secure a position on the cover of Electronic Art's NASCAR 08, this despite coming close but still not landing in victory circle in his new outing. Also on the cover is NASCAR's new "Car of Tomorrow," painted in Montoya's Havoline livery. The game is due out sometime later this year, Colombian flag not included.

Sony announced today the North American release of NBA 09 The Inside available on the PS2 and PS3 computer entertainment systems, along with the PSP.

The next time EA decides to put an athlete who's an actual gamer on their NBA Live cover, it might help to have vetted him first. As Jon Robinson of IGN points out in a piece about who will replace Shaq as NBA 2K's cover athlete, Gilbert Arenas would have made sense. In a Q&A session on NBA.com last November when Arenas was asked if he plays NBA Live he answered, "No. I play NBA 2K. It's real, the NBA 2K. The other one, now ... it's too fake."
