It's a big--really big--week for game releases. Next-Gen takes a quick look at the Gears of War hype machine and talks Call of Duty 3 with Activision's director of global brand management. Other games set to launch this week include Guitar Hero II, Tony Hawk's Project 8 and Socom U.S. Navy Seals...
Activision has confirmed the UK release dates for Call of Duty 3. The game will arrive on the Xbox 360 on November 10, followed by a PlayStation 2 version on November 24, and the Wii version on December 1 - a week before the UK launch of the Wii. The PlayStation 3 version will launch with the system next year.
Fresh from GC2006 and also from chatting up Activision, CoD3 is shown and it is looking very sweet. As much as it pains me to say, CoD3 looks better than CoD2 by a good way. Some of the info from the event is as follows.
Activision is teaming up with Spike TV and Best Buy to deliver the "Game Head Call of Duty 3: Challenge," a boot camp-style competition of survival and gaming that will telecast as a television special on Spike TV's "Game Head" on November 10, 2006 timed to the fall release of the Call of Duty 3 video game. Activision is hosting an online casting call at www.gamespot.com to find 16 recruits with personality, perseverance and gaming skills to compete for a Grand Prize package that includes VIP access to Spike TV's "Video Game Awards," a Home Entertainment system from Best Buy and a trip for two to Normandy, France.
