Wednesday 10 May 2006 When Wii hits the shops at the end of the year, it'll play host to next-gen versions of both Tony Hawk's and Call of Duty, according to publisher Activision. Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam and Call of Duty 3 are set for release in autumn, and will feature in the launch line-up for Nintendo's newly rechristened console. However, despite hitting several current and next-gen systems, Call of Duty 3 won't be striking a beachhead on PC. This info was beamed to our eyes at

Call of Duty 3 was officially confirmed this morning by Activision. The latest chapter in the World War II shooter series is currently in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 and Xbox. All versions are due to be released this fall. Very little was announced beyond those core details. We do know that the game deals with the Liberation of Paris, which pegs the action in late 1944. That was the final stage of Operation Overlord, better known to many as the

Tuesday 10 October 2006 Call of Duty 3 features a stronger multiplayer section than the previous games in the series did, not least because of the introduction of vehicles - tanks, jeeps and motorbikes all feature in 360's Xbox Live 24-player matches. While multiplayer scraps will never match the intensity of the single-player game's scripted blitzkrieg, it could still be a lot of fun - even if we're not exactly short of online games to play where we shoot lots of soldiers. Hopefully some

We sort of thought the Guinness Book of World Records was a collection of definite, measurable achievements. Like, that's pretty much everything it represents... or not - the latest edition of the Guinness Gamers' Edition contains a list of the top 50 game series, not by total sales or anything factual like that, but as determined by a poll. It's horrific.

See the whole list inside...

Freedom of speech? Bah! Who wants that? Games are clearly rotting humanity’s collective eternal soul and must be banned accordingly. The following collection of violent, titillating titles have offended censors all over the world. Some have been beaten to death by the banning bat for their gory deaths, others for displaying acts of girl-on-girl action, while one was even banned for having a two-headed cow. Really, just what is this

It's all-too-easy to feel jaded by the seemingly endless barrage of war games these days but, based on what we've seen of it so far, Call of Duty: Finest Hour could yet make us eager to storm back into virtual combat. We first saw the World War II console outing - a completely different game to the original PC Call of Duty, incidentally - at this year's E3, where its Stalingrad level impressed with its grimly authentic sense of battlefield panic. The latest tank-based demo that we've seen of the

From just below the bottom line of a financial report so dull that it could take all the enamel off your teeth, comes the rather exciting news that Activision are planning a pair of follow-ups to their huge selling and rippingly good fun PC shooter, Call of Duty, and its console cousin, .Pencilled in to appear in the next financial year - so between April 2005 and March 2006 - the pair of shooting sequels have been confirmed by the grandest of all the fromages at Activision, Mr Ron

Self-employed musicians understand how challenging it can be to find work and pay the bills in this economy. In a competitive market, it's not always easy to ensure a steady income. But it's not uncommon for those working in the videogame industry to band together for a charitable event to help those in need. Novum Initium is the latest benefit album dedicated to working musicians who struggle to make ends meet due to illness or disability.
