The Top 7... Bloodiest games you've never played

We spew a whole mess of gore-soaked games you've never heard of - and we do mean mess

3.  BloodStorm - Strata, 1994 - Arcade

Remember Time Killers? In the wake of Mortal Kombat clones, Time Killers awarded players for not only beating their foes but dismembering them in the process. But few people remember its spiritual sequel, BloodStorm, which lived up to its name even as it dragged fighting gameplay down into the ditches.

The bonuses for slicing off heads and limbs (which then twitched and bled on the ground) returned, with the ability for players to power-up as they mutilate their opponents in showers of plasma.

Above: BloodStorm showed a dude with his eye dangling and gut split before you even put in a quarter.

In some areas, the game went simply by the name "The Storm" - because, you know, in a game that rewards you for splattery decapitations and shows a guy's intestines spilling out in the attract mode, it's important not to have an offensive title and marquee. Here's the best part: This game was published by the same folks who eventually brought you Golden Tee Golf.

Shadow of Rome was an amazing game but kinda felt immature with the gore... like it was there olny gimick. Would have been an amazing game if i could take it seriously.

Just goes to show that anything in excess eventually becomes hilarious. I don't know why No More Heros wasn't on this list (the uncensored U.S. version at least), and it's too bad Madworld wasn't released in time for this article, it would fit right in.

@ericairasole : In the beginning of the article, it says that it would address the games that were more obscure, as opposed to more mainstream ones.

I'm pretty sure GoW 1 and 2 fall under the "mainstream" category.

Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix is freaking amazing. I still play the multiplayer on that game. The single player is still entertaining to me.

If anyones ever played the game "Die By The Sword"
i personally think tht shouldve been in there due to the dismemberment of limbs factor of it.
