The Top 7... Bloodiest games you've never played

We spew a whole mess of gore-soaked games you've never heard of - and we do mean mess

7.  Harvester - Merit Studios, 1996 - PC

"Harvest...population 51. It's a nice little place, where the fields and the people are carved into pleasing shapes." We can't tell you too much about the plot of the point-and-click adventure Harvester without giving everything away, but... well, who cares, spoilers ahead...

You show up in this sleepy little town with amnesia, then meet a bunch of eccentric folks and, once you're inducted into the sinister Lodge, butcher them. The Lodge is sort of an Elks club for mass murderers, so that explains the occasional axe to the forehead and the bloody exposed spine found at a crime scene - but nothing really clarifies the hallways made of flesh, the giant eyeball that you have to pop to solve a puzzle or the man-sized sphincter doorways - we're not kidding about that one, either. You read it right.

Above: Harvester delivers plenty of blood, but its unrealistic depiction of vitreous humor knocked it way down the list.

A crappy game from start to finish, one of Harvester's main selling points was that it was banned in Germany. Which isn't hard - hell, you might be banned in Germany.

Shadow of Rome was an amazing game but kinda felt immature with the gore... like it was there olny gimick. Would have been an amazing game if i could take it seriously.

Just goes to show that anything in excess eventually becomes hilarious. I don't know why No More Heros wasn't on this list (the uncensored U.S. version at least), and it's too bad Madworld wasn't released in time for this article, it would fit right in.

@ericairasole : In the beginning of the article, it says that it would address the games that were more obscure, as opposed to more mainstream ones.

I'm pretty sure GoW 1 and 2 fall under the "mainstream" category.

Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix is freaking amazing. I still play the multiplayer on that game. The single player is still entertaining to me.
