The Micro Machines series has always been radically different from other racing games. It's not about tweaking your ride or searching for a sweet spot on the track to zip ahead of the pack. Hell, most of the time it's not even about crossing the finish line in first place. For the most part, you're just supposed to beat the other cars to the edge of the screen to win a point. After so many points, you win the match, no laps or checkpoints involved at all. The issue with this unique racing ...

Forget single-player - here's why you're going to play this game

In a world of Gran Turismo and Mario Kart, it's easy to overlook practically every other racer thats languishing on retail shelves. We sat down for a four-player session and lovingly crafted a movie - click that movies tab above - to illustrate exactly why you'll want to grab three friends and start tearing across ...   » Read Full Micro Machines v4 preview

Tiny cars plus big hammers equals a whole lot of fun
May 25, 2006
Thursday 25 May 2006 Codemasters brings one of its most loved franchises back to our screens next month - and after getting our hands on an almost complete PS2 copy of the game, we can confirm it's as fun as ever. Playing on the premise that awesome racetracks can be made from household locations such as breakfast tables, the garage and the back garden, Micro Machines V4 sees you racing tiny cars through the kind of courses you dreamed up as a kid. Of course, the game's been around since Mega ...   » Read Full Micro Machines v4 preview

New images of tiny cars wreaking havoc
May 18, 2006
The toys may not be quite as big as they once were, but the Micro Machines video games have always been a multiplayer riot. The racing is a little unconventional (you all share one screen and try to zoom out of it before everyone else), but throw in some power-ups and a close-quarters camera and you've got a party game that lasts for hours. Our new screens come from the PC and PS2 versions, which look basically identical, though Micro Machines V4 is also headed to the DS and PSP on June ...   » Read Full Micro Machines v4 preview

Take the pint-sized hotrods out for a drive around the chicken coop
Mar 10, 2006
There are a few evergreen, childhood memories that most of us share. Burning G.I Joes with a magnifying glass, taking Barbie and Ken for a cruise right off the edge of the kitchen table ... all fine ways to kill an afternoon. But buried in that same backyard of nostalgia are the miniature cars, trucks and hotrods of Micro Machines, a toy line that has offered some of the simplest pick-up-and-play racing games of all time. This June, they're back with even more. In true arcade fashion, anyone ...   » Read Full Micro Machines v4 preview
