Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Also known as: MGS 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid III Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid III Snake Eater

Metal Gear Solid 3 is coming to Nintendo's swanky little handheld in 3D - and the release date has been confirmed by Konami! Hmmm, wonder what the intro music will sound like in 3D...

You may not know Yoji Shinkawa by name, but if you've spent any time in Solid Snake's world, you've more than likely seen his work. An artist by trade, Yoji has gained quite a rep in gaming circles for his stylized designs and art direction for Konami's Metal Gear Solid and Zone of Enders series. Next year, Konami will be paying its respects to Shinkawa and his works during the “The Art of Yoji Shinkawa” exhibit in Tokyo...

Konami has confirmed to Eurogamer that it is reissuing old PS2 games to shops, as EG reader Richard Garrard suspected. They are proper reissues, a spokesperson told us. Konami has put them out at budget price because of demand. They are re-manufactured. They are ours. Those PS2 games are Suikoden Tactics, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. And they will soon be joined by Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4.

Snake himself (the real-life, writerly version) is facing yet another threat (and this time, it's not from another Metal Gear prototype). In another move to kill off the online capabilities of the PlayStation 2, Konami has recently announced that the online multiplayer component for Metal Gear 3: Subsistence will be no more as of April 2 this year. The last day of online service for Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence in North America will be April 2nd. Konami sincerely thanks all of the Subsistence online community for their dedication to the game and support of the Metal Gear Solid series.

Kotaku reports: For those of you who felt gypped by not being able to get a US version of the MGS Anniversary Collection, it seems that Konami is throwing you something of a bone. PlayAsia is currently taking pre-orders for Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection for the PS2 that includes the original Metal Gear Solid as well as the directors cut of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. The listed price is $34.90 plus a $4 dollar shipping charge. If you are looking to delve into the world of MGS before MGS 4 comes out, this is the perfect way to do it at a reasonably low price.
