Raymond Benson's second novel based on Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid franchise is out. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty the novel follows where the first novel ended. Following the Shadow Moses Incident, Solid Snake and Otacon now members of The Philanthropy, an anti-Metal Gear organization, head to the Hudson River to investigate the possible existence of a new Metal Gear. Their mission is simple, to prove the existence of the nuclear equipped walking battle tank and blow out the news to the media. Is it going to be that simple? In 1987 everybody's favorite stealth man Solid Snake debuted on July 12th with the Japanese release of Metal Gear for the MSX2. Today he and the game that started it all celebrate their 22nd birthday.

Kotaku: The official novelization of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is due out in November, raising the question of how many different ways there are to say hiding his crotch with his hands. Perhaps author Raymond Benson will offer us some keen insight into Raiden's mindset as he snuck naked through a heavily fortified enemy base in Metal Gear Solid 2. Benson, the author of six James Bond continuation novels, also penned the novelization of the first Metal Gear Solid, which went on sale last May.
