The credit crunch is hitting everyone hard. Especially if you’re a motorist. With rising petrol prices running a car is fast becoming as hard as completing Halo 3 on Legendary. In the dark. While wearing boxing gloves. Thankfully, the kind folks at EA realise your problems, and, to celebrate today's release of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, are giving away £20,000 of petrol. Free!

The Last Stop Ltd near Finsbury Park in North London has been turned into a Mercs-style military bunker, fitted with all the exploding oil barrels, sandbag walls and jeeps that you can to expect to blow the hell out of with Mathias and co in the game. And costumed soldiers – read pretty ladies that EA have paid to be there – will be peddling out petrol all morning. Check out the photos below. There aren't any pics of the actual petrol station, so you'll just have to make do with a lady and a massive traffic jam instead.

No doubt it’s a generous PR stunt. But they really better hope that most of the motorists they’re stopping know what Mercenaries actually is, or at least play games. Oh, and if you’re passing by this EA embargo today and are hoping for a free fuel-up, just a bit of advice: don’t mention the words ‘Niko’ or ‘Bellic’.
