The two player co-op mode is worth the price of admission on its own. In co-op, one player takes the lead guitar, while the second axeman picks up the rhythm or bass track. You work together to improve your combined score, but at the end of the track there’s a full breakdown of each player's performance for all you competitive types. Both players can choose separate difficulty settings as well, so your skill sets needn't be identical.
Hammer-ons and pull-offs - advanced moves that involve playing multiple notes quickly by waggling your fingers deftly after a single strum - are easier to hit in GH2. Another welcome addition to ease the pain of the more difficult sections is the Practice mode, where you can play a tough song (or individual section) at a slower tempo to master the fingering work.
