Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

New San Andreas character revealed?

New spoof website seems to confirm Shaun Ryder caricature will make it into the next GTA

Rockstar Games have today launched a pair of spoof websites for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. is a parody of a cult based around 12 tenets, including "We all come from the same tree - FACT!" and, our personal favourite, "Dinosaurs are a lie that people believe because they are weak - FACT!"

However, it's Rockstar's - homepage for Madchester pioneer Maccer - that's of more interest. The Maccer character is a thinly disguised caricature of Shaun Ryder who, you may remember, was heavily rumoured to be doing voice acting for the game earlier this year.

The site seems to strongly suggest that Maccer - who you can see for the first time in the image to the right - will indeed be making an appearance in the game. When we asked Rockstar this morning if that was the case, they enigmatically replied, "You'll have to wait and see." That'll be a yes then.

Rockstar employed similar tactics prior to the release of GTA: Vice City, with a run by a chap called Kent Paul.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be released for PS2 on 22 October
