PS2 - God of War - SkeleTONS: nearly every bony bastard in the gaming universe A few months ago we had this idea to make a “Skeletons of Street Fighter” feature. Street Fighter IV hype was asploding across the webs (GamesRadar included) and we felt there was no better time to excuse a barrage of boney bastards across the site. Then we thought, “why stop with Street Fighter?” There’ve got to be a billion goddam skeletons creeping through virtual graveyards just begging to have their toothy visage slapped on the immortal internet. Who are we to deny them such a privilege? So, without further yammering, we present, just in time for Halloween (y Dia de los Muertos), the biggest batch of skelleys you’ve ever seen... ... » Read More

Legions of exasperated gamers whined that Kratos' escape from the bowels of Hell - complete with rotating columns of bladey cartilage, platforms of bone and two huge towers of spinning blades - was 'stupid', 'cheap' or 'toohardIwantmymummy!' but we loved it. ... » Read More

In 1983 you, like us, would have played a Commodore 64. It was also the year you could have picked up a copy of 2000AD in the UK, to read it for Skizz written by a young Alan Moore. Twenty-five years later, the worlds of comics and games have definitively separated in terms of experience - so why do we see so many of our favorite comic creator names appearing in the credits of certain games? Rebellion bought 2000AD and Judge Dredd Magazine, Top Cow is half-owned by Eidos and Rockstars marketers ... » Read More

5. Shadow of the Colossus SCEI | SCEA | 2005 In theory, this was just a third-person action game - but the fact that it was all boss battles against gigantic leviathans, strung together by a heartbreaking plot makes it a must-play What made it so great? Some games are games. Others are experiences, and few games demonstrate this better than Shadow of the Colossus. It's drenched in melancholy atmosphere, from the sparse, mournful soundtrack to the muted color palette, and expertly intersperses ... » Read More

God of War II is about to arrive in stores, and youre probably champing at the bit to disembowel another army of Greek monsters by now. But before you delve into Kratos second neck-stomping adventure, we thought you might appreciate a quick refresher on what came before. (And well just put a big fat spoiler warning right here, so that you cant whine later about how we ruined the game for you.) Just ruining the ending wouldnt do the game justice, of course, so weve got much more than that in ... » Read More

God of War Kratos is totally bad ass - when have you ever killed a god? And the fact that Aries ate an H-bomb for breakfast that morning really added to the effect. Except, now that Kratos is the new God of War, shouldnt we have to kill him in God of War 2? Whatever, just let us rip the eyeballs out of something and dont make us ... » Read More

Ah, bosses! How we love their layered life bars, cheap super-attacks and exposed weak points. It's the rules that games have to have them, so in this roll-call we look at seven titans that really threw their weight around. These are some of the biggest of the big, deserving of their boss status by barely fitting on the screen, let alone playing unfair. 7. The Hydra, God of War, (PS2, 2005) In a game that does everything big, you expect some mighty bosses, but what you don't expect is one ... » Read More

After three years in the making, Sony's Santa Monica Studio-developed God of War is finally done and dusted, and has since been celebrated with high acclaim from the games media.God of War's director David Jaffe has, according to his blog, now officially 'gone fishing' but, before disappearing into the sunset, the mastermind behind the Greek epic took some time out to answer a few of our questions.
