Examiner: In 2006, Capcom released a wacky action Playstation 2 game titled God Hand. Despite mixed review scores, it became a cult hit. Don't expect Capcom to continue publishing God Hand games in the future, however.

Hideki Kamiya, Atsushi Inaba, and Shinji Mikami resurface with new game development studio. Shortly after Capcom announced the dismantling of Okami developer Clover last year, it was revealed that two of the studio's big names--Viewtiful Joe producer Atsushi Inaba and Devil May Cry director Hideki Kamiya--had already left the company in search of fresh challenges. They appear to have found one, as the pair are listed on the Japanese language site for upstart developer Seeds, along with fellow Clover veteran and Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami. While Kamiya and Inaba had left Capcom entirely, Mikami last year was still working for Capcom as a contracted producer.

As of today, the studio behind Viewtiful Joe, Okami and God Hand is no more. Clover Studio was shuttered by main shareholder Capcom. At a Board of Directors' meeting was held, and it was decided that Clover should dissolved. The reason? According to the Capcom IR release: Clover Studio Co., Ltd. has met the goal of developing unique and creative original home video game software, however, in view of promoting a business strategy that concentrates management resources on a selected business to enhance the efficiency of the development power of the entire Capcom group, the dissolution of Clover Studio Co., Ltd. has been raised and passed at a Board of Directors' meeting.

Capcom has pulled the wraps off God Hand, its latest urban-themed beat-'em-up for the PS2. It stars Jean, a mumbling hero who's inherited the Hand of God, and is now entangled in a series of deadly scraps with those seeking out the source of the power that he's tapped into. Put simply, it's a rowdy 3D fighting game that's livened up with some brutally colorful and violent effects when Jean puts his heavenly digits into action, filling the screen with dazzling light and crumpled faces.
