Destructoid: "Final Fantasy XII is a splendid role-playing game. In fact, I've recently started replaying it. I forgot how great the story was. I like it, but I don't like it enough to buy this piece of memorabilia.

Importer Play-Asia has a 1:1 scale Judge Magister Gabranth helmet on sale for the low and completely reasonable price of $1099. This helmet is life-sized. By putting it over your head, you could be come almost as imposing and powerful-looking as Gabranth himself. And it will protect your head from all the bullies making fun of you for wearing it and spending that much."
This of course means, every compilation features different locations and environments. The environments in every Final Fantasy are thus different from each other, as they reflect the themes and ideas of the story, as well as the emotions involved in the story at the time you encounter them in a game for the first time. Of course this is helped with the oh-so-magic use of music...

Continuing with our Top 5 Season We've compiled our top 5 iconic Final Fantasy locations which can be found following. Do you agree with our choices? If not what would you change in the list? (Please note this article contains Spoilers)
The objects of their unending speculation? The biggest games of the show, which, oddly enough, have been known to the gaming press for months and will surprise literally no one.

That's why we're interested in games that haven't been seen, announced or ...

First on the agenda was the question of why the game is taking so long to finish. The devs answered that the team doing it is pretty young and adjusting was one of the most time-consuming parts of development. As for how far along into completion the team has gone, they said they're at about 50 percent and that character models are almost completely sealed.

Plenty more at the source!

Square Enix honcho Yoichi Wada (above, left) is worried. Western game companies are doing really well! Meaning that competition is getting harder. Yet, Wada hopes to capitalise on the Western market, aiming to increase the ratio of overseas sales from its current 50 percent to 80 percent in the next three years. According to the exec:

"We face competition not only from Japanese videogame companies but from game companies worldwide. We also see some new players from outside the videogame industry coming in... Economies of scale and breadth of scope is getting important. It may be a business alliance or it may be us taking a stake in others, but we need to go beyond traditional Square Enix."

That business alliance sounds nice and all. But, how about stop calling everything Final Fantasy? Or make things other than RPGs? Or if you are going to make RPGs, why not make the games people have been asking for for the past decade?
The series has struck a chord with fans the world over, by providing engrossing gameplay against a backdrop of astounding drama - for over 20 years.

As we near the end of our weeklong countdown, it's time to look at one of the biggest parts of any Final Fantasy - the music. Each game in the series features an astonishing number of quality tracks, from burning guitar rock, to tear-jerking ballad, to rave-friendly electronica. There's probably no other game series in the world that's had as many full-blown concerts in its honor, be they garage bands cranking out angsty riffs or a legitimate orchestra performing for a crowd of thousands.

Circuit City is selling Final Fantasy XII for $37.99 USD starting this Tuesday, a full $12 less than any of the major U.S. electronic retail stores. Yeah, we're surprised by it as well. Not only does today's Circuit City flyer in your local newspaper have the price listed at $37.99, but the online price is listed as $37.99. It's as real as it gets. Of course, this means nothing to those lucky people that caught CompUSA breaking street date.

We've even contacted a few Circuit City stores and, just like other retailers, they say their copies are currently sitting in the warehouse ready for distribution -- but they aren't breaking street date. So, Circuit City has the copies, they are $12 less than anybody else and are ready to pick up first thing when the store opens on Tuesday. Come on, not to be completely jaded, but what's the catch?

A call has been placed to Circuit City PR to find out if there is something we are missing and why they are selling the game for such an amazing price. The only thing that doesn't jive is that the flyer says Tuesday, but online says Thursday as release.
Great games don't simply happen. They're made by huge teams of people. And these teams are lead by creative minds. It may sound obvious, but every element of a huge game like Final Fantasy XII is a finely-tuned, separate instrument. Here, in cooperation with PSM, which provided some of the questions, we take time out to chat with the three of the creators of the latest Final Fantasysaga.

Battle Designer Kazutoyo Maehiro cut his teeth on the Final Fantasy Tactics games - epic strategy sagas ...
What a weird journey Final Fantasy has made on the PlayStation 2. Look back at the PSone: FFVII set the tone for FFVIII. FFIX was the "different" one, but it still fit the mold. But then PS2 came along... FFX inherited its style from FFVIII; FFXI went online; FFX-2 was the first direct sequel in the series' history - and a very odd one at that. And now, we arrive at Final Fantasy XII... another beast entirely.

You've probably read by now - it's been how long since they announced it? - about ...
Vaan is both like and unlike FF heroes from the past. He's an orphan - a troubled teen who still seems to find the time to quest for perfect hair. But he's not the disturbed lead of previous games - more a normal kid with problems than one overcome by them. Though he can be a bit bitchy, you can understand it: his brother died under the command of General Basch and he's been alone ever since. He functions as a sort of leader to the street kids in Rabanastre, but his dream is ...

Yesterday, the rumor mill suggested an early copy of the US version of Final Fantasy XII, not scheduled for a release until the end of the month, leaked onto the pirating scene. Given the especially large download size and the need for torrents to grow a decent number of seeds (hosts who provide the files for "leechers" on torrents), however, there was little to no confirmation on whether the files were legit.

Considering only a few days ago there were false scares that Gears of War had similarly leaked (though how anyone would play a possibly leaked Xbox 360 game is another matter entirely), more details were needed. Since then, several sites have sprouted torrents for the game, with a growing number of users announcing it's completely in English and playable..
If there's one thing we truly know about Final Fantasy XII, it's massive. Years in development have yielded what is very likely the biggest single-player Final Fantasy game yet. We played the import for hours and hours and we barely scratched the surface.

So it's no surprise that there are plenty of details we have yet to uncover. Good thing that Square Enix stopped by with the game and uncovered some exciting new details. Though the game was only on demo for maybe half an hour, we learned a ...

The publisher is releasing the game in both a standard package ($49.99) and a Collector's Edition ($59.99), the latter of which will be available exclusively through GameStop and EB Games. For the extra $10, gamers will get a bonus DVD with developer interviews, featurettes about the series, Japanese and American promotional trailers, and an art gallery.
Nobody quite expected Guitar Hero to be such a blistering success last year, but its popularity and sheer awesomeness have put the sequel at the top of our "must-see" list. While it's deceptively simple - you "play" a guitar-shaped controller in time to a cascading series of onscreen dots - Guitar Hero is one of the most enjoyably addictive games on the PS2, and we've got high hopes for the next ...
It's a figure that puts the long-awaited RPG outrageously far ahead of Animal Crossing DS, the next bestselling game, with 71,000 copies.

Should we be at all surprised, given that Japanese gamers seem to exist on a diet that's so rich in vitamins R, P and G? Final Fantasy X recently topped a poll run by Japanese magazine Famitsu, asking its readers to vote ...
Our first hands-on preview of Final Fantasy XII cut straight to the basic details of this mammoth RPG, the most monumental PlayStation 2 release of 2006. More time spent under its spell proves the game to be a slow burn - one of the most deliberately-paced in the series. Somehow, though, it's still addictive.

So far in the first several hours of the game, all action has revolved around blonde leading man Vaan - though Ashe, the princess who played a leading role on the demo disc, has made a ...
These games represent the pinnacle of technology and visual artistry wherever they land. If we're lucky, they also tell captivating tales, filled with adventure and love.
New Final Fantasy, slightly new rules. Ever since the series redefined what role playing games could be with Final Fantasy VII for the original PlayStation, gamers have flocked to play each and every one. Somehow, though, developer Square Enix keeps us guessing.
