Taking place on Thursday April 23rd at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London, this year's MCV Industry Excellence Awards will be the most hotly-contested ever, with 17 accolades up for grabs, across a diverse range of categories covering the entire industry.

Nintendo, EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sega and Activision will battle it out for the Games Publisher Award, whilst individual titles Guitar Hero World Tour, GTA IV, FIFA 09, Fallout 3, Wii Fit and Call of Duty: World At War compete for Game Campaign.

FIFA 09 has sold over 1.2 million copies in Europe in one week.

The astonishing number makes the 09 edition the fastest selling FIFA game of all time.

PS3 and X360 fifa sales were neck and neck in last week's UK charts. The wii version howver flopped in sales.

Charttrack reports:-

"42% of sales were on Xbox 360, making it the 3rd fastest selling game on Microsoft's format (behind GTA IV and Halo 3), while 40% of sales were on PS3 where it is the 2nd fastest selling game (behind GTA IV). The PS2 version accounted for 11% of sales and PSP 3%, while Nintendo's formats and PC made up the remainder. "

Electronic Arts Inc. today unveiled its world-wide lineup of cover athletes for EA Sports FIFA Soccer 09. Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and AC Milan superstar Ronaldinho will be the face of FIFA Soccer 09 worldwide on each available platform- the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, Wii home video game system, PC, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo DS, PSP (PlayStation Portable) system and mobile.

Not as tactically deep as the 360 and PS3 versions, but it's still easier and sometimes more fun to play. The unrealistic gameplay heavily favoring offense might turn off some, but makes FIFA 09 more of a blast with a few friends. If you opt to get this instead of the next-gen options, you certainly won't be missing out.
