The Top 7... Bloodiest games you've never played

We spew a whole mess of gore-soaked games you've never heard of - and we do mean mess

Words: Dan Amrich, GamesRadar US

4.  Thrill Kill - Virgin Interactive, 1998 (almost) - PlayStation

Probably the most infamous unreleased game of the last decade, if not ever, Thrill Kill was to be the first four-player fighting game for the original PlayStation... until The Man stepped in and ruined everybody's gory fun.

Characters trapped in Hell fought each other in torture chambers, padded cells and bathrooms for the chance to return to their previous life. Instead of hoarding health, players used aggression to fill a Rage meter; the first player to fill theirs got to kill one of the other characters, usually via decapitation, electrocution or mashing their face into a bloody mess.

Above: The interesting thing about Thrill Kill is that, had it actually come out, everyone would have realized it pretty much sucked.

It was low-res, nasty, hilariously over-the-top, and full of big blocky red pixels that were supposed to be blood. While naughty gamers have acquired bootleg copies here and there, Thrill Kill never made it to stores because of corporate shenanigans: Electronic Arts bought publisher Virgin right before the game was set to release and buried it forever (though much if it showed up in the Wu-Tang Shaolin Style fighting game), essentially saying Thrill Kill was too sick to survive. Makes you want it even more now, right?

Shadow of Rome was an amazing game but kinda felt immature with the gore... like it was there olny gimick. Would have been an amazing game if i could take it seriously.

Just goes to show that anything in excess eventually becomes hilarious. I don't know why No More Heros wasn't on this list (the uncensored U.S. version at least), and it's too bad Madworld wasn't released in time for this article, it would fit right in.

@ericairasole : In the beginning of the article, it says that it would address the games that were more obscure, as opposed to more mainstream ones.

I'm pretty sure GoW 1 and 2 fall under the "mainstream" category.

Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix is freaking amazing. I still play the multiplayer on that game. The single player is still entertaining to me.
