LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (2006) – PS2; PSP
Now we’re talking - the same LEGO Star Wars gameplay, but this time applied to the original, superior trilogy of movies. Yet again the results were nothing short of spectacular. With over 50 playable characters and a neat sideline in collectables, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is officially the greatest Star Wars game on planet earth. Officially.

Best bit: Seeing Princess Leia in her golden bikini. Still surprisingly hot after all these years, even in LEGO form.

Star Wars: Lethal Alliance (2006) – PSP
OK, so the Force wasn’t all that strong in this one, but it was still good-looking enough, challenging enough and all round Star Wars-y enough to earn it a reprieve from Lord Vader’s Death Grip. If Ubisoft does commit to a Lethal Alliance sequel, let’s hope for improved controls and more varied gameplay.

Best bit: The story, which bridged the gap between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope.

The bad:

Star Wars: Starfighter (2001) – PS2
The very first Star Wars game to land on PS2, and quite possibly the worst. Marrying violently ugly graphics with lumpy, face-numbing gameplay and a tired storyline, this shit-brained Phantom Menace knock-off represents everything that is bad about Star Wars gaming.

Worst bit: The incessant gum-flapping that takes place between levels.

Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing (2001) – PS2
We still get flashbacks about this one. Super Bombad Racing had groups of swollen-headed Star Wars caricatures - among them Jar-Jar Binks - taking part in a painfully slow, brain-raping Mario Kart clone. It died on its ass, and a poor franchise was strangled at birth.

Worst bit: Having to witness Yoda being put through such a demeaning ordeal.
