Villains

You can have five thousand heroes in a videogame, but none of them are worth a damn unless they have cunning, ruthless and devious villains to go up against. The baddies are responsible for defining the heroes they fight. Green Lantern wouldn't be nearly as glorious if he didn't have Sinestro to push him to his limits. Daredevil's resolve wouldn't be so remarkable if he didn't have Bullseye adding tragic events to his life.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance: Doctor Doom is the primary antagonist in the game, but he's aided by Ultron, Loki, Baron Mordo and others. The cast of villains in the game actually trumps the ridiculous amount of heroes in it! More importantly, the villains seem menacing. From The Wrecking Crew to The Winter Soldier to The Mandarin, every villain in the game feels like a real threat thanks to a combination of strong acting, cool powers and a great script.

Justice League Heroes: Well, you definitely have some true menaces, like Brainiac and Darkseid. Unfortunately most of baddies in this title seem as harmful as a kitten. It's just hard to take The Key and Queen Bee seriously. Grodd and Brainiac have had their times to shine in the comics, but in this game they seem like a talking gorilla and a talking computer, respectively. The dialogue for the villains is just weak and the plot makes it hard for the baddies to get any respect. Only Darkseid comes of as something fearsome (and the ruler of Apokolips should be feared!), but if you beat the game you turn him into a pet rock. Lame.

The Winner: Chalk another one up for Marvel Ultimate Alliance. The game just has way more bad guys, plus they all come of us bigger, meaner and... well... badder.
