We've gone head-to-head with the spiky-haired aliens of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 once before, and we came away impressed. Since then, however, we've had a chance to play the hell out of a nearly finished version of the game - and we're still impressed.

Unfolding from a third-person perspective, it captured the feel of the mega-popular anime almost perfectly, enabling players to freely fly around a huge, 3D battlefield while beating the crap out of a super-powered opponent in lightning-fast aerial fistfights.

Although they started off with some cripplingly rough edges (not that fans like to admit it), the Dragon Ball Z fighting games on PS2 have grown into their massively beloved subject matter. The last Tenkaichi finally gave the player the freedom to fly all over the battlefield, machine-gunning punches, kicks, and energy blasts toward their target and countering similar attacks with superhuman power - just like it should be. This sequel adds in the two things that DBZ die-hards really thought the
