Destroy All Humans! 2

Simultaneously grey and completely off-color, DAH!2 is a great improvement on Pandemic's original alien invasion sim

It's not easy being green, but it's harder being grey. This was just one of the lessons we learned in the original Destroy All Humans!, Pandemic's fun, clever, slightly shallow parody of 1950s sci-fi flicks. Experiencing the action from the aliens' perspective, it was hard not to feel sympathy for the vicious little bastards even as they ran around sucking out innocent victims' brains.

Destroy All Humans! 2 picks up a decade after the original invasion, with Cryptosporidium-138, the latest clone of the original game's anti-hero, entrenched as the President of the United States. Unfortunately for him, the KGB is on to the alien plot, and takes out the alien commander's space station. With his supreme leader reduced to a virtual (but still annoyingly shrill) hologram, the surly Crypto must take up arms (and beams, and probes) once more to enact revenge on the KGB and escape from this primitive, ape-infested little rock.

Whereas the first game was level-based, DAH!2 takes its inspiration from the open-ended nature of the Grand Theft Auto series. Crypto is unleashed into four large, free-roaming environments, ranging from a goofy parody of '60s San Francisco to the grey streets of England to the bright lights of Tokyo. Each one is packed with main missions, side missions, odd jobs, and lots of hidden power-ups.
