Have a good weekend guys? GamesRadar sure did, as we got a bit of a tune-up this weekend after our 24-hour marathon. After updates to much of the behind-the-scenes stuff you need not worry about, GR is back online, so everything is different, yet also the same. Exciting, huh?
Remember last year when Capcom's Yoshinori Ono said he'd love to create a new entry in the Darkstalkers series? Turns out he's still working on it, but still doesn't have anything official to announce. Ono's speech during a Comic-Con panel suggested he's attempting to convince Capcom Japan that the franchise still has legs and deserves another shot in the spotlight, but so far the head honchos aren't biting.
Faced with the dilemma of having turned literally every story ever told by humans into at least three movies (all of them excellent, obviously, and most of them starring Sam Worthington), Hollywood executives have turned to the obvious next source of inspiration: things that aren't stories. In addition to the upcoming Battleship and Monopoly movies, Lorenzo di Bonaventura – producer of all three Transformers movies, as well as Doom and Constantine – has just acquired the rights to Space Invaders, with a view to making it into a blockbuster...
Ever wanted to see Crash Bandicoot rendered in cutting edge CryEngine 2-enabled glory? No? Well, it doesn't matter because it's happened anyway. This is a fan-made reworking of the original Crash Bandicoot, complete with dense foliage, bloom lighting and some rather lovely shadow work - all the traits we've come to expect from this rather wonderful graphics technology. But we can't help but feel that it's lost something along the way...
Electronic Arts has spent the past few years building up new IP like Dead Space while also striving to make flagging, yet still-modern series relevant again, like Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Medal of Honor. Meanwhile, the company is sitting on a treasure trove of beloved franchises that haven't seen new installments in years.
EA's Frank Gibeau told CVG that the company is "very cognizant" of its back catalog...
Finding a copy of the original PlayStation version of Final Fantasy Tactics is a rare feat on its own, but someone could make a total killing if they had a mint condition copy of the game autographed by members of the development team. Andrew Vestal, though, has a grander vision than that.
The copy in question is autographed by Hideo Minaba, art director, and Akihiko Yoshida, character designer...
Grand Theft Auto's origins have never been steeped in mystery, but recently unearthed design documents from 1995 have revealed a few extra tidbits that even the most die-hard franchise fans might find interesting. For instance, did you know GTA was once planned for the N64 and Sega Saturn under the codename Race 'n' Chase? You did? Screw it – these are still pretty cool.
The12-page pitch was posted by Mike Daily, an original member of Rockstar North's first incarnation...
Many would assume going blind means putting down the controller for good, but one 23-year old Oddworld fan has proven that all it takes is a keen ear and the patience of a monk to keep the game alive.
Rendered completely blind by the age of 10, Colorado Springs student Terry Garrett recently caught the attention of the team at Oddworld Inhabitants after submitting a video which showed him completing a near-perfect run of Abe's Exoddus relying on the game's sound design and a small amount of guidance from his brother.
Understandably stunned, Oddworld featured Garrett in a front page interview on its website, accompanied with a video version for your viewing (and listening) amazement:...
RuptureFarms is reopening for an HD remake of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. According to Oddworld Inhabitant's head Lorne Lanning, the remake is currently brewing at the UK studio Just Add Water, and will sport a whole new look for the offbeat, 1997 puzzler...
