6 months 16 days ago on Halo 3 (Xbox 360): Radio 1 goes Big on Gaming Weekend
Diabolical music, middle of the road presenters paid not to have real opinion or personality and a contrived "Big Weekend" consisting of, most likely, paid marketing for whichever companies have made deals. Sounds great to me...

I'd bet on the following taking place-
Two "uber fans" will duke it out over which is better; 360 or PS3.
Guitar Hero and Rock Band will be mentioned constantly because they're the easiest games to work into the whole being a music radio station scenario.
Pro Evolution versus Fifa debate.
Fern Cotton not mentioning her corporate shill status for Nintendo at all and saying she loves Rock Band and plays it ALL the time. She will do this unconvincingly, as is her style.

Perhaps the BBC would serve themselves and the underrepresented gamers of the UK better by making a TV show, what with gaming being a primarily visual medium, not filling it with BBC actors with new shows or other such Z-listers("Which member of the Eastenders cast is better at COD!" I can see it now), and not pissing away an undoubtedly substantial amount of money away on an easily forgotten weekend of half hearted presenters trying to sound excited about some 13 year old "gaming expert" explaining why the latest graphics are amazing.

Rant over. Itch scratched.

"The game also introduced QTE events to the world"
Sorry to pull the pedant card, but I'm a bit bored of seeing this idea trotted out.
Have you by chance heard of Die Hard Arcade? The fantastic and mostly forgotten 3d Streets of Rage type arcade game? That featured QTE between stages years before Shen Mue hit shelves.

The smiling kids face plus American History X got a big ole laugh out of this cynical twisted gamer.
Top stuff.

Visitor Q: The Game
Playing as deadbeat reporter and equally bad father of a broken family you must undergo a series of tasks to bring back the unity and family values you so crave. With the help of the rock weilding Visitor you set off to save the day!
Sleep with your incestuous prostitute daughter! Dont blow your load too quickly!
Watch as your son beats your heroin addicted wife! Make sure you get those all important shots of him hitting her with bamboo rods!
Kill a fellow reporter, then sleep with her corpse! Try not to get stuck!

Two combat "modes", both featuring what appear to be simple quicktime events as well as a special move that turns off your damage animations are hardly likely to get anyone whooping are they?
That said, it was cool to see The Joker dish out some punishment, though I could have sworn DC had put a veto on their characters killing, or was that just the heroes?

Reading both this and the Girls vs Games article was a bad idea and an insult to not only every man, but every woman gamer I know. Both writers seem to be hung up on childish notions of gender roles. "Boys are lazy, sex obsessed and stupid", "Girls are superficial, unlike games most women are exactly the same, and they like to spend time in the company of their boyfriends!", "We're both bitter because we've had crap relationships with poorly chosen parteners, our expectations of the opposite sex really highlights this"
He's a suggestion for Jessica V, rather than lower yourself by spouting similarly sexist rubbish as a way of striking back against a man with the sexual maturity of a pig tail pulling seven year old, why not write about the misconceptions, the contradicitons of his article. Or maybe, just maybe, ignore it as the idiocy it is, safe in the knowledge that there are actually a large majority of men and women that don't fit these lazy cliche's.
I hope for the sake of the site that these backwards thinking, stereotype re-enforcing morons aren't actually being paid for writing such rubbish.
And yeah, it's meant to be a joke, but if I want this kind of humor I'll watch some sitcoms from the 1970's when this kind of stereotyping was fresh.
