Wait, the title is confusing me. The URL (blizzon-moved-2013) insinuates it's been pushed back to 2013. The title states the 2013 Blizzcon has been cancelled, and the article says this year's has been cancelled.
Do you mean the 2012 Blizzcon was cancelled? Or was the 2013 Blizzcon cancelled?
Straight Skeet: The Xbox 360 and PS3 don't upgrade because making a game for proprietary hardware is much easier than conforming to a range of standards.
Saying the Xbox "could" be upgraded is like saying they could come out with a new iPhone every 3 months, or saying that the Xbox could be upgrade-able like a PC.
The only problem being that a PC has to be vastly more expensive due to a variety of different parts. Console companies can work out a deal to use a set piece of hardware if they get it at an extremely low cost. PC Manufacturers can do this too, but not to the same extent because there's a range of PCs and that doesn't apply if you build it yourself.
Android is another example. It has a range of hardwares and as such, choosing a phone can be problematic and not all applications are guaranteed to be compatible across the range (In fact, most aren't.)
I can't even think of a proper analogy for this. Websites like ThePirateBay facilitate legal content and they are not responsible for the pirated content on there. All they do is host the files that are essentailly a phonebook to uploaders. This is like banning phonebooks because someone used it to call a drug dealer!
Where will I grab a torrent of my DKC2 Tribute Albums?!
@robinkurosaki: While I see your point, to be perfectly fair, Portal gets a lot of love from the team because it's unique, original, witty, and incredibly polished. The Puzzle Genre is typically one avoided by the likes of AAA games, with puzzles being a minor part of the game. Games like Puzzle Agent are fun but are a side-show whereas games like Halo and Half-Life take the front. Portal showed that puzzles can be fun and that not everything has to be a OH LOOK AT ALL THESE GUNS AND BLOOD HUR DUR fest to be fun. It showed that characters can be witty, be dynamic, and develop as the plot continues. Portal 1/2 had great character progression and story, casually revealing the relationship between Chell and GLaDoS, the history of Aperture Science, and the true personalities of Wheatley and GLaDoS. The many easter eggs enhanced the story and the story also tied in with the fantastically renowned Half-Life series. So, while my opinion differs slightly, Portal does deserve the love it's getting for it's a fantastic game that broke the mold and showed us how something unique and original can really succeed. The most successful games, as of late, have been all very similar. They are all Action/Adventure and usually the FPS-genre. Portal pushed the envelope to show that combat and generic action (See: Violence) doesn't have to be the major emphasis of a game for it to succeed.
My only qualm with Valve is that they are taking their sweet time with the Half-Life series but have already come out with Portal 1 AND 2. Since Portal ties in with the Half-Life series, I'm curious to see if the ending of Portal 2 is a pre-cursor to the next Half-Life game. Ooh.
To be fair, Skyrim is not significantly buggy on the PC and the PS3 is infamous for having lots of bugs in Skyrim. I'm curious what platform you were using as the benchmark for judging because my experience with bugs in Skyrim has been miniscule enough that I might just push it over Portal 2. Portal 2 was a phenomenal game but it wasn't revolutionary like Portal 1. It's a very polished game and icnredibly rewarding with great co-op but the depth, content, and overall awe-inspiring impact Skyrim had on me just kinda makes me come to appreciate Skyrim over Portal 2. I've always been a huge fan of Valve but I have to chalk it up to Bethesda here, even if the menu for the PC version is kinda console-ish.
I hope nobody's like "omgwtf they are totally delaying features" Because from what I could see of the Beta, it was loads of fun but had lots of work yet to be done. If we see these anytime soon, that would be a mighty feat of strength on BioWare's part, especially with a venture into the cut-throat MMO market.
Main character seems cool enough (Trenchcoat, Sword, Wide-Brimmed Hat). Add some a cup of large-breasted love interest and two tablespoons of plot twists and you have a JRPG.
This is excellent to here. One company that knows how to treat their PC users right. Modding can make a community, as seen with the PSP (I just bought one!)
Judging from playing the game, it completely depends how the launch go. If BioWare and EA pulls through the launch and keeps the subscriber base, I can see it growing immensely because I got immediately hooked playing in the buggy beta (Which is apparently an old build) and I have a level 85 Rogue in WoW.
It's a great MMO that sets a precedent for quest-quality, each quest has top-notch voice acting and multiple responses so that it really feels like a fluid breathing environment. You can even hook up with chicks and if they catch you and say "Planning to leave without saying goodbye?" The evil option is "Yeah, that was the plan" and the good option is "[Lie] It's too dangerous for you to come with me" haha, It really makes for an excellent MMO that drew me in, unlike WoW where my friend had to keep pushing me to level. We'll have to see SWTOR's end-game (because I ddin't reach it) but so far, the game has excelled in many facets and has impressed me. Hopefully, Lucas isn't taking all of the cake because BioWare definitely deserves some cash from this. I'd hate to see the game go under because it's definitely fun, and Star Wars definitely has the fan-base to support it.
Ah, Although I wouldn't buy Turtle Beaches are the exorbitant pricings here in Canada, I would love a pair to replace my shitty Creative Fatal1ty headset using a microphone ripped off a $20 headset that I sort of mashed on and somehow got it to work with the headset.
In short, I could really use this headset. :D ME WANTS NAO!
