The absolute WORST water levels
I've always hated the sonic water levels. I can make it a ways in sonic 2 on a good day because I'm able to outrun the water or whatever. But I ALWAYS disagree with someone who says that sonic 3 is the best in the series; you get to the water level so soon! And it's a bitch. I'm not sure I've ever worked up the patience to get past it, actually. Damnit sonic.

22 brilliant Dreamcast games doomed to die
My friend and I stayed up past 2 am for a week straight playing Typing of the Dead this summer. It kicks so much ass. It takes House of the Dead as the joke that it is, and makes it even more enjoyably ridiculous. It's like playing a B-movie: awesomely hilarious.

QOTW: Have you beaten every game in a series? Which one?
I've beaten every Streets of Rage game (2 being my favorite because the levels get to be so absurd). I think that's about it for whole series' I've completed. I would say it's kind of sad, but often a series becomes so flooded with sequels that I find it ridiculous to finish them, especially when the games are crap. I have no interest in playing Hotel Mario, the CD-I Zeldas, Castlevania 64, Final Fantasy X-2, etc. so I will never complete those series'. But I will finish all the Metroid and Metal Gear games, someday...

@sixboxes

She wears the glasses because her design is inspired by Sarah Palin. She doesn't need them, the devs wanted them.

QOTW: What band do you now love because of music games?
The only band I came to love after playing a music game is Beck. When I had first heard Beck a few years prior I didn't like his music at all. Then playing "E-Pro" in one of the rock band games I decided to give his music another listen. This time around, I dug it. I'm not a huge Beck fan by any means, but Rock Band had the correct timing to make me listen to him again at a time that turned my opinion of him around positively.

The Surprising Origins of Your Favorite Games
I actually followed Twelve Tales: Conker 64 all through development. I was pretty excited, but then after the Bad Fur Day unveiling, I was disappointed because I wouldn't be able to play the game because I would be way too young. Because of it, I try not to get excited for games in development and just wait for their actual release. It's a sad state of affairs.

10 best drinking video games
Although I totally agree that Rock Band should take the top spot (considering I've only played the game once when everyone was sober, and it was kind of boring compared to drunk play), I think it must me mentioned that such an activity is only fun if everyone is drinking. Being the one who isn't drinking sucks. Instead of having fun, you keep getting annoyed when all your inebriated bandmates keep failing the same song over and over again. It's also degrading when all your drunk friends keep making you sing because your voice is horrible and they think it's funny. Sure, my "Roxanne" performance was hilarious the first couple times, but I'm tired of the requests to sing it every time I'm at your house. I think I'll stay home, sober, thank you very much.

QOTW: What's your favorite N64 game of all time?
It's a tough choice, but I'd have to say it's probably Mario Kart 64. I've clocked a lot of time on that game, and it's my favorite in the Mario Kart series. I also think it's aged very well, as Mario characters don't need a lot of detail to be convincing. Plus, the game is still a ton of fun.

I love the Ecco with lazers picture. I kept saying "pew pew pew" tonight, and now it's an inside joke amongst my friends... and it's my background pic on my computer...

yeah it really tickled my fancy.

QOTW: What once-beloved game do you now hate?
Sonic Adventure 2:Battle. I loved that game when I was in middle school. I thought the gameplay was a fantastic 3d rendition of old Sonic style, I thought Shadow was cool, I thought SOAPS were cool (do they even make those anymore?), and I loved the music so much I bought the goddamn soundtrack.

Then a few months ago I was playing SSBM with some friends when we decided we should play Adventure 2. I was amazed at how horrible the camera is, how unnecessarily difficult it is, and how stupid the premise is. Years ago, I thought a giant Loch Ness Monster was an awesome end boss, now I think it's stupidly absurd.

QOTW: What are your top 5 games of all time?
My top five most played games are:

5. Contra. I love this game so much, that I get the same euphoric feeling as an orgasm during the end explosion. Just not as messy. Naturally, I play it a lot.

4. Animal Crossing. I played this game every morning for an entire summer. Then I suddenly stopped playing it. I came back two years later because I heard a song that reminded me of K.K. Slider, and now I play it every Saturday night after work so I can have all of his songs. Here's to another lost summer!

3. Grand Theft Auto III. After my friend bought this game, I demanded to play it every time I went over to his house. Years later, I purposely played it from afternoon through night and into morning so I would be tired the next day. It's a long story...

2. Tetris. My insomniac game. Whenever I can't sleep I get up and play it. Which is actually a bad idea because now that I'm sick and all I keep having dreams where tetrominoes are crushing and suffocating me.

1. Super Smash Brothers Melee. Not only is this the game I've clocked the most hours on, but it's also a sentimental favorite. I started playing it as my parents' marriage began to crumble, and it's one of the few bright spots of that time period. Aside from that, it's the game that never stays out of my gamecube, or off my tv, for very long. I love it for ever and ever.
