About Me
A die-hard Blizzard fan who is very disappointed with Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2 at the moment...
How do you take the gothic feel of Diablo 3 and make it "lively" and take away Dragoons and Firebats from StarCraft?
It's wrong I tell you!
Disappointing in the fact that it has everything that Diablo and Diablo II and LoD didn't have. If anyone remembers the first game and played it thoroughly, you will remember the language, the tiny details that most people would find offensive nowadays. The burning crosses, the pentagrams, blaspheming religion in all aspects... and the list goes on. Now, don't get me wrong, Diablo II turned from that, but not entirely.
But the other thing that relates somewhat to that and I'm really critical about is the art direction that took place. This game looks like StarCraft II but in a fantasy setting and as an RPG, does anyone else see the resemblance between the two. This series is dark, not lively. The story is based around an Angel and a Demon who created the world of Sanctuary and kept it from Heaven and Hell. Does it get much darker than that? Of course it does, or the original would have been the only one.
But when you have so many changes in staff, including story and art direction, can this game come even close to the bar set by the other two... doubtful. I think this is a lousy attempt to try and please fans.
I played the game back in 1996, and I'm not about to quit now, but Blizzard really needs to think about what they are doing because right now, and I know that I'm not the only person, fans are pretty ticked off at how mild the setting has become. And bring back the reasons why the game was such a classic such as the books from Diablo, such as the Sin War, Dark Exile, and the Darkening of Tristram. And I want Lachdannon to make his return like promised in the first game! Also,
Overall though, darken the colors, and make it deserving of a M rating, and I'm in!
Questions, ask. I'll answer. This goes for the the books as well.
