I don't think it's the most fun campaign (to me, that's Dead Air) but it's definitely very good. I'd have paid $20 for it and the corresponding achievements, but maybe I'm weird.
You forgot "Bill running to the house to get fucking pain pills he doesn't need right after you alert the zombie horde OH SHIT BILL COME BACK HERE YOU ADDICT SHITHEAD!!!!"
I understand the criticism, but the thing is: I got my $60 worth out of L4D1 long ago and this game will fucking ROCK! I'll be buying it the DAY it comes out and I'm going to play it ALL DAY LONG.
@iluvmyDS: Me too! I debated the score quite a bit while playing it; I WANTED to give it a higher score, but I just found it too frustrating. I really really do appreciate what Success did, as I'm a hardcore retro gamer as well. And the soundtrack is incredible. (BTW I wrote the review haha)
The first game I pre-ordered was Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64), at Toys R Us where you were supposed to get the gold cartridge if you had pre-ordered. I showed up the morning it came out, and the douches only had grey cartridges. As an oldschool gamer, that's a slap in the face. But I went home with the game and no discount or anything, because I was only 17 and was too timid to complain. ... I think I cried a little ...
... and then later myself and GR's own Brett Elston worked there for four years through college. *sigh*
Double post, but fuck it - I'm listening to the podcast as I comment. I've gotta say, the 'ask a games journalist' is my new favorite portion of the cast. While I do enjoy the top 7 and all the funny stuff in between, hearing the four of you borderline wax philosophic (I kid) is easily the most entertaining portion - and it hurts me to hear the discussion about skipping it entirely. Keep it up!!
Bear in mind that 7 is still "good," and I certainly don't think this is bad game. But as a lifelong Mario fan, I don't see how anyone could consider this better, let alone on par with SMB3, Mario World, SM64 or Galaxy.
I wondered the same thing, then I realized that 3D World is also published by Future. Sometimes we all share content like this just to show what else we have out there.
For example - I didn't even know we HAD a 3D magazine until now.
Replaying missions is a first on PSP and all Sony platforms, so it's worth saying in that way. But yes, that was a feature on DS as well.
Cyberninja: Yep, I think it's better on DS, having spent tons of time with both I feel I can say that easily. However, if you didn't play the DS one, this is absolutely worth trying.
