Hydrophobia (Xbox 360): Hydrophobia review
I bought it yesterday and it's pretty good value for a tenner, the graphics and sound are good and dispatching enemies is good fun thanks to the use of environmental hazards such as leaking gas pipes, breakable walls with water behind them and electric cables. I've played it for over 3 hours and i've not finished the 2nd of the 3 acts that you get to play through.

Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360): Tokyo Game Show - all the hottest news so far
Valkyria is on PSP rather than PS3 because games on handhelds such as the PSP and DS sell better in Japan which is where the most copies of the extensively Japanese series are sold. Dragon Quest IX is another good example of this bizzare trend and it sold in mega numbers.

Is this what Xbox's realistic avatars will look like?
They'll be the same style as the characters in Kinect Adventures which is also shipping out with Kinect.

Gran Turismo 5 (PS3): Why Gran Turismo 5 is NOT a revelation
I just want it for the Top Gear test track! I just wish it was more like Grid when it comes to track side objects such as tyre walls which were devastating when hit.

Are the days of demos numbered?
Both Crackdowns had great demos as did MGS 2 with its famous tanker level.

Why a new console generation would be terrible for gaming
I must be the only one missing the sudden technological leaps that each new generation brings and the inevitable shake up in the Manufacturer and franchise pecking order as a new wave of new less sequelised games is brought along such as in the past with; Super Mario Bros, Sonic the Hedgehog, Wipeout, Tekken, GTA, Resident Evil, Panzer Dragoon, Crazy Taxi, Shenmue, Halo, Condemned: criminal origins, F.E.A.R., Gears of War, Assassins Creed and to a lesser extent stuff like Crash Bandicoot, Jack and Daxter, Resistance and Ratchet and Clank. All of these are part of the first two waves of games for their respective systems and were not previously possible without some sort of crippling deficiancy in either scope or graphical fiddelity which would have prevented them from catching on and becoming franchises. An excellent example of this is Crash Bandicoot, if there were no 32/64bit generation his 1st game would have most likely been a 2d platformer if he had one at all and then he wouldn't have stood out from the rest of the sonic clones on the mega drive/ SNES and would have been left behind with the likes of Wiz'n'Liz and Zool (Its a shame I know but some people like Crash at least so I guess its good for them). A new generation would bring more advances in in-game physics, AI and Environmental benefits such as better Deformation such as Red Factions destruction and Facture's terrain manipulation. Another effect of a prolonged console cycle is consumer boredom, such as with the NES' long life in 80's America. When Sega came along with its technically superior Mega Drive it sold like mad and destroyed Nintendo's monopoly on the market as Ninty weren't ready to release their next bit of kit. Ditto the PS2 as the Xbox 360 has destroyed Sony's monopoly on traditional systems in the U.S. and the UK.

2 years, 4 months ago The Top 7... games that don't deserve nostalgia
I disagree with the review comaparison between the Dreamcast and GC sonic adventure.
The gamecube version was a horrbily broken port with some of the worst collission detection i've ever seen.
The original is still playable and holds up when compared to the ps1 games it supersceded at the time.

ps ones got the best doom, they redid the music with cd quality atmospheric stuff instead of the midi rock of the original and it still plays really well.

Also it works on the ps2 and 3, sweet!!!

I'm not buying this now, pre-orders cancelled.

People buy Gran Turismo for the career mode, the tuning options and the realism, these are what the series stands for, they are what it brought to the table over every other game when it was first released.

The should have just ported GT 2 and put some more polish on it for the psp and updated the car list and everyone wold have been happy.

this is a cash in rushed out for the pspgo's launch.

In all fairness WTF were they thinking!
Screw 'em!

Playing Sonic Adventure for the first time at a demo booth in a Sheffield cinema.

My jaw hit the floor!

I'd seen the pictures in the game magazines at the time but nothing prepared me for how amazingly fast and crisp it looked compared to the blurryness of N64 and the fuzzyness of Saturn/PS1 games.
