I am glad to hear the opinions of people who aren't gamers. I believe though that just as chinese people are stereotyped as being bad drivers, gamers are stereotyped as only sitting in basements playing games where you do one thing over and over and have no real social life.

They do exist as proven by the drunk red-headed girl. That gamer was a fucking idiot. I would fucking love it if my girlfriend wanted to have sex with me so much that she was willing to strip and jump on my keyboard. Most gamers however don't simply only play games and nothing else.

How is gaming not "cultural?" The clothes that dumb chick wear's everyday is part of her cultural. What makes her so special?

I can appreciate the guy who talked about dungeons and dragons because he at least gave a thoughtful explanation, however even he was blinded by the stereotype. You can't just make up your mind about something because you heard something or had one bad experience.

Mirror's Edge is amazing. It is a First Person game unlike any other. It has a great visual style and an interesting enough story. You can complain about the random puzzles and such, but without them, the game would become boring. It allows people to freely move about their world and use their minds to seize oppurtunities, where you had seen in life, but never got to do. I had so much fun playing this game. It obviously could've had more, lasted longer, had fewer bugs etc. It was made quickly by a company used to making First Person shooter games (The Battlefield series). They tried something new and exciting unlike anything else and made it fun and for that I give them a High-Five.
2 years, 12 months ago Gears of War 2
Gears 2 adds bigger environments, a smoother version of the original experience had in Gears 1. And that's it. Gears 2 isn't a real sequel. It is simply Gears 1 if Epic Games had enough time to actually implement all that they originally wanted into the game. By that it is therefore a "good" game, like Gears 1 was, but thanks to the what Capitalism is doing to the videogames industry, Gears 2 is a sold out version of Gears 1. Epic better do something amazing with Gears 3, otherwise I won't even bother giving it another thought.
2 years, 12 months ago Call of Duty: World at War
This is probably one of the worst rip-offs in the history of videogames. Call of Duty: World at War was made by Treyarch. A terrible game developer company that is making money by ripping off Infinity Ward's initial success with the original Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: World at War uses the same engine as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (the only difference is now limbs can come off). Therefore you are playing COD 4 with a World War II skin. You would therefore think that the gameplay is totally identical. It truly is not. The guns feel weak and crappy, the animations are slow, the textures change from light to gray, the dialogue is just awful (I hate Jack Bauer). The AI animation is awful. Also why the fuck does every Nazi have rolled up sleeves? The Tank combat is a joke and full of glitces. Fire (the one new feature worth any note) doesn't work half the time. The second to last mission is one of the few that requires smoke grenades, however, your russian allies didn't see fit to allow for those, instead they are replaced by shitty molotov cocktails. Multiplayer is a bastardized version of Call of Duty's excellent multiplayer. Tanks add to it, but they are clumsy at best. The Dogs are cool. What the fuck is Tabun gas? No soldier carried that like they would carry frag or smoke grenades.

OVERALL - Call of Duty: World at War is terrible version of Modern Warfare. I blame everyone who has purchase any game from Treyarch for this mess. I am BOYCOTTING Treyarch and anything involved with their company. Infinity Ward's Call of Duty games are the only true Call of Duty games.

This game is awesome if you play it exactly how you're supposed to play it. That is with 3 other friends all working together sharing ammo and health in order to kill every motherfucking zombie and survive to the end. As soon as 1 person in the group stops doing their job, the game falls apart. Also paying 60 bucks for 4 levels and 6 guns is bullshit. I would pay 15 at best. However I heard that Valve is creating more levels for free download on XBLM. So thank you Valve.

ALL THAT SAID, Left 4 Dead is an excellent game, with a nice visual style (I love that they made zombies in hospital gowns). It is fast paced fun action that Valve has always excelled at and continues to do it here making a GOOD zombie game that anyone can easily pick-up and play. But do you really want to pay 60 dollars for it?
2 years, 12 months ago FEAR 2: Project Origin
I definitely agree that FEAR 2 is excellent, especially in the story-telling department. It isn't like the first FEAR. FEAR 1 was amazing because it was incredibly dark, all the sounds (not just the creepy ones) were punchy and realistic. In FEAR 2 the guns don't sound threatening. Also the characters, though not as graphically appealing were a lot more realistic and evil looking (including there deep voices). These new enemiesdon't have the same effect. Why do games make certain soldiers use specific weapons? It shouldn't matter what armor they wear, which leads me to the lack of variety. The are too often the same kind over and over, which makes for the exact same firefights everytime. All that said, this game is very good and if you played the first FEAR, you should play FEAR 2 (and if you like FPSes than you NEED to play both).

When I worked at Harmonix, I got to destroy guitars, drums and microphones with a sledge hammer. That was kickass.
