It'll be awfully ironic if I don't get into this beta, considering I tested the game at Hi Rez before any game news sites even got to try it. Seriously, I wasn't legally allowed to talk about it until about a month later when IGN got a hands-on with it.

Gen III is definitely my favorite. It was the only gen where I loved all the starters, I liked the pokemon designs in general, and it was the first gen I played, so there might be some nostalgia in there too.

Hmm... Well personally I think Raichu is cuter than Pikachu anyway, plus it's stronger! But my cutest would probably have to be Spheal, because IT'S A BABY SEAL. What's not to love? Plus you can club them to death! Well, okay, fainting...

My favorite Ghost is probably Mismagius. I like how it looks cute, but it can do some really evil stuff if it wants to.

Also, actually, the Day Care people CAN overwrite moves. I know because they deleted Extrasensory off my Togetic that I got from that egg the guy gives you in HGSS! It was an egg move so I don't think I can ever get it back on that Togetic. Those barstools.

Ohh yes, no one where I live understand that Pokemon isn't just some stupid kids' game. The anime (and even the TCG) have given people the impression that it is, and I can't convince anyone of how deep it is. I talk about Pokemon with the two other nerds at my school (my best friends) and pretty much keep it to myself from everyone else.

I'm going with the water otter, his last form is absolutely kickass. I also like the grass snake, though. I was a bit disappointed by the fire pig, I was hoping he'd stay on all fours. Check Serebii.net, people, they have the last stages for all three!

Never heard of Nuzlocke. I wouldn't be able to bear releasing all those pokemon.

So that's where "I can't wait to go bomb some Dodongos!" came from. I've seen the Faces of Evil opening a million times, but not the Wand of Gamelon. Hilariously horrible.

It's never really seemed to me that the Dark type was always evil and the opposite was Psychic. I mean, the only case of that I can think of is Darkrai. Of course there's Umbreon and Espeon, but Umbreon isn't evil...

As for importing, I don't get it. I mean, if you don't speak Japanese, what's the point? I don't see how you can beat the game if you can't read the text and you'll get a version you can understand in a few months.

Also, that forum argument with Pokepizza and Ethan was kinda funny, though a little sad.

I tried this with a picture from an old GR article. It was an article about annoying game characters... The picture was of what the GR staff wants to do to Navi from Zelda (tank of starving bullfrogs) but it had Chris Antista on the side. I uploaded it to the celebrity look-alike thing, and apparently Chris looks like Estee Lauder. Yup.

I EV train. It's daunting at first, but becomes quite easy with the help of the Power items. I only got into it in the last year or so. I've never understood IV breeding at all though, so I don't bother with that.

So there's my tip, Power items. That and serebii.net, a very in-depth and helpful Pokemon fansite. Oh, and notes are absolutely essential, because if you're EV training, you have to be fairly exact with the numbers.

I. Hate. PC. Gaming. Is there anyone out there besides game developers and game journalists who actually own PCs capable of playing new games? If I tried to play a several-year-old PC game on a decent, fairly new computer, some game-ruining error would be bound to crop up. It's always "memory capacity" this and "graphics card" that. The sheer amount of money I would have to spend on hardware upgrades if I wanted a PC that could play modern games would be ludicrous.

And hardware crap aside, fans of PC games are always going on about how a keyboard and mouse is the most precise control scheme. Is precision really THAT goddamn important in a video game? How about how enjoyable (or easy) a control scheme is to use? Personally I prefer two analog sticks over a mouse, and I'd say Metroid Prime 3's motion controls were even better. I could work with either, but I think motion controls and traditional controllers both work fine for first-person shooting.

Hmm... As a primarily Nintendo gamer there's not too much here for me... Still, Dragon Quest IX and Arc Rise Fantasia both look pretty cool.

I don't really like the concept of using all these inanimate objects as Pokemon. Especially Gear. Couldn't they at least come up with a better name for that thing? Sometimes it really does seem like they can't come up with any original pokemon anymore.

And how about those 3-on-3s? They could be really fun, but I see a lot of potential for some annoying crap and general pointlessness.

I can't believe you didn't include the sunken ship from Okami! Sure, it doesn't exactly fit the criteria - Okami isn't technically an RPG and the ship wasn't a pirate ship - but it's close enough that I would have though the fact that it's from Okami would be enough for GR to talk about it.

The original was decent, but it was too linear, rather drab, the ghost mines were incredibly annoying and cheap, the online was filled with hackers, and there was no splitscreen which was a big disappointment for me considering I got it at a birthday party and we were all hoping for some awesome FPS multiplayer. Also, it was very short and the plot was extremely "meh."

This sequel looks like it will fix most if not all of these issues. I am stoked.

I knew I kept my Wii for a reason. Y'know, a reason besides my ignorant mom not letting me get a 360 because all the games are M-rated.

The people who do shit like that are the people who already had mental issues and were probably going to do something similarly insane later in life even if this didn't happen. But because the gamer-hating media mostly brings these bad stories to the public's attention, it makes ignorant nongamers think games make people kill people, when really people kill people because they're just plain crazy.

At first I was skeptical about the first person/third person switching and having to go into FPS mode to fire a missile, but this video has erased any doubts I had. Now I have yet another reason not to be able to wait till summer.
