Great, great video but I have to say a big FALSE to the PS1 part. It was quite obvious that he wasn't actually playing the games, but FFVII cannot be played using the analog sticks nor is the "X" button the confirm button in the game. It hurt to watch that part.

While I do think this new fan made one looks incredible, I think we still have to remember that both of these fan made ones are recreations of the games we love from the past, which is why we think we love them more. Sonic 4 is a brand new game. The visuals may not be as awesomely new and complex, but it's still new nonetheless. So it comes down to "do we want a remake of an old, classic Sonic game" or "do we want a brand new Sonic game that won't suck (we hope)?"

If Sega were to do this graphic overhaul on the first 3 games (and maybe S&K to boot), I would gladly pay that price. I don't care if the games are the same length with no extra features. A complete 3D sidescroller copy of the originals is worth it to me.

I absolutely LOVED the Mutant League games. I really wish they brought back the series, even if it's just a port onto XBLA or PSN.
