Civilization 4. Every time I think I get that heroin needle out of my arm a friend will call and say, "Hey want to not have a life for a weekend and play some Civ" I proceed to the man cave and i don't return until the sun comes up for work on Monday... and i see that my wife has left me again...
In this game it makes no sense at all to take unarmed. It totally worthless, always. It's my biggest complaint with the game to have a stat that will never get used. Running up to anything and trying to punch it will just make them angry and you dead.
I have pirated 1 game in the past, but no more than that. I really want PC gaming to stay. I like the games and controls better, and i love the mod communities. With that said, at what cost? I think restrictive DRM is leading people to pirate.
I had a friend who always pirates games ask me if wanted the game (Spore). I told him no, I wasn't buying the game on principle and that I would wait for it to either patch out the DRM or not buy it at all. He said, "well you don't have to buy it. I'll just give it to you." I have to admit that i was curious. I almost did it by saying to myself, "well it's EA they can afford to not have my money and i can get the game for free." To be honest where is the line? When is ok to break the rules to protest or to get change?
Although, i'm a bit angry with the spore and mass effect reviews as well as the red alert preview not saying anything about DRM, I still think that PC Gamer is a great mag and i look forward to it every month.
It's got ad's... so what. You pay 20 bucks for 12 mag's How do you think they pay the bills. next your going to tell me that TV is a sham and Going to pro sporting events is a sham, Or driving down the highway is a sham.
Just turn the pages and keep on reading. If not, save your 20 bucks and eat a couple of cheeseburgers i guess.
Tyler, Thanks for the reply. PC Gamer has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I am wondering though if there was a reason that the extremely restrictive DRM was not put into the review? Do you guys consider it to not be part of the game? I'm not accusing, just wondering.
Please review every part of the game. I have read on many forums and websites about how EA will, as of now, only allow 3 installs of this game total, unless you call them to get permission. Don't you think this is an important part of the game? I mean your computer gamers, don't you have to uninstall and reinstall games all the time. How did this little fact get missed? You say in your review that you can hardly find anything wrong with the game. I though you guys were going to release information about games that contain DRM? I hope this was more of an honest mistake as opposed to not wanting to lose those EA dollars.
