Does Jimmy Hopkins count? I guess not. In that case I'd have to go with Tommy Vercetti; ably voiced by Ray Liotta.
11 months ago 8 things old gamers moan about
Maybe I'm not quite old enough to agree with the observations in this article. However, at 42, I likely an elder statesman of gaming, and in all honestly none of the points here resonated with me.

Dark, desaturated visuals: I love dark, brooding games. The Fallout series, Bioshock, Dead Space, Metro 2033 and one of my all-time faves, STALKER, are all on my hit list. The bleaker and grittier, the better.

DLC: I love DLC! If it's a game I really like, I'm thrilled to have more gameplay opened up to me. Fallout 3, Borderlands, Just Cause 2, Mass Effect; just a few I've titles who's DLC I've gobbled up. And having to pay for it doesn't bother me at all. As a gainfully employed adult, I've got money to spend on games and I don't mind doing so.

FPS: Probably my favorite genre. I've played them all and am thrilled to see that they look better, play better and push the boundries of story-telling and creativity every year that goes by. And as for Bioshock; absolutely brilliant in my book.

Online gaming and gamers: Here's where you're a little closer to the target. I don't play a whole lot of online multiplayer games. The reasons why I prefer a solid single-player game are legion and far too complicated to get into here. The point is that it has very little to do with my experiences with other gamers. One reason may be that while I own (and have owned) just about every major console there's ever been, I'm primarily a PC gamer. It just seems to me that one tends to find a more mature crowd in the PC pool than in the console arena.

Motion controls: I've got a Wii and the Move. Tons of potential there, especially with the latter. I've got no issues here. Anything that's helping the medium to evolve is okay by me

Bobby Kotick: Meh. Don't care too much either way. But yes, Activision were the heroes of alterna-gaming for me back in the 2600 days. 'Skiing', 'Barnstorming', 'Pitfall'...I used to love all the old Activision carts.

So what do I moan about? You missed the big one: playing with a controller versus a mouse. This is a debate I have with my young nephews all the time. I've become spoiled by the precision of the mouse and playing a FPS with a controller feels to me like going into combat wearing mittens and a neck brace. I don't know how these kids do it.

I don't mean to be over-critical here. It really was fun and engaging article. I just had to take a moment to bust some stereotypes.

Whatever. Screw you guys. I really like the Resident Evil movies. I'm not proud of it, but there it is.

Anyone else remember Killing Time? Great game, with scary clowns, if I'm recalling correctly. I played it back in the 3DO days.

Do try Metro 2033 if you get the chance. It's not perfect, but I've come to realize I don't need perfection in my games. I just need something that going to entertain me for a while. I think far too many good games get punished by consumers because they pull a 7/10 rating. Metro is just this kind of game.

Steam even has it on sale right now. Give it a go, it's got a great STALKER-type vibe to it.

I loved the 3DO! In fact I still have mine. Somewhere. Anyone remember 'Killing Time'? That game rocked!

What's with that aspect ratio? Looks much more like 4:3 than 16:9. Seems an odd choice, no?
