1 month ago Poll: Are you going to get a PS Vita?
While I am very interested in Sony's new product I definitely will be waiting to see how it fares.

Why?

First of all the price, while ostensibly low, isn't. The hardware is $250 but it DOESN'T come with internal storage. You have to buy that $50 memory card and then of course you're going to buy some games. The seemingly awesome entry level price of $250 now is right around $400 (with tax). I can wait.

Yeah, they don't really know anything about this game and it's pretty tough to watch. It's especially brutal in the beginning when he's getting shot from one guy behind him and he never turns around to address the issue.

Spike doesn't have any idea what they're doing. Look at the list.

By the way, Skyward Sword is listed as a game of the year contender? What?

The game isn't even out yet. LOL. Good job Spike.
3 months, 1 week ago Bioware explains how Mass Effect 3's multiplayer affects the singleplayer experience
Uh, you do know that "affect" fits in the title of the article right? Both "effect" and "affect" mean something different but they are similar.

Think of "effect" when having a result on something and "affect" when it acts on something.

No worries, it's something many people get confused.

I'm not sure about this but I will say that the dragon statue would look awfully nice next to my Sub-Zero and Scorpion bookends.

Maybe.

Will the DMC3 version the the original version that was released (with the same difficulty) or will it represent the Special Edition emeraldphoenix7 was talking about?
4 months, 2 weeks ago Why Gears of War 3 is the Spider-Man 3 of video games
Dave, I know what you're trying to say and I do agree with certain parts but overall I can't agree with your statements.

Can you honestly say that Gears 2's story was all that great? The first title set the stage for a very mysterious enemy in a world torn by conflict. There were questions everywhere like what happened with Marcus and the law? Why did the Locust decide to come up now? And as you guys wrote it - are the Locust really the bad guys? All these questions really intrigued the player-base - especially me.

When Gears 2 began, that terse narrative expanded into the "bigger, better, and more badass" cliche that follows movies I really hate to talk about - Transformers 2. Epic diluted the experience of the second game by following this formula as well as allowing the script to be written by a 13-year old, energy drinking junkie. Dom's first-grade statements, "MMM, JUICY," and "I"LL SHOOT YA IN YOUR ASSES!" really put a damper on the emotional moments that really mattered in that game. Don't get me wrong, that scene with Dom's wife was chilling but something is taken away when you can't convey the character's feelings in a believable way. Especially when he says that stuff after the fact.

Saying all this, I hated how the story worked in Gears 2. The Brumak encounters, the "boss fights," everything felt paper thin. I was never worried about a Brumak in the second game because they just threw them at you like nothing. That and the Mortar was always there when one showed up, making them stupid. Skorge had a double-chainsaw staff? Isn't the whole chainsaw thing COG tech? His fight was awful as you won by tapping "B." Then, the final fight against the lambent Brumak wasn't even a fight at all. Yeah, the second game was just a blur of explosions, bromance, and all the extras thrown in to make it appear huge.

You complain about the character time in Gears 3 but the second game had far more characters walking about. At least this time around the characters aren't forced upon you in an attempt to try and make something crazy awesome happen. Hoffman is only in the game briefly as is Prescott. You don't see Baird and Cole too much and that new Bernie lady is just as ghost-like as Hoffman. So how does that work? I don't understand how you feel "cheated" with this cast as I feel it's a much more focused and likeable way of playing in the Gear's universe. For me there was no connection to Anya at all in the previous games - she was just a voice like Cortana. At least she's trying to help now that everybody needs it. Does that really seem all that forced to you?

Dom's death was coming. Every single person who has played the Gears games knew it coming into this. You didn't need to read the books or check out the special primers to know it was coming (which I didn't do). Really I thought it was handled about as well as it could have been. Karen Traviss rescued this narrative form the abyssal depths and having Dom sacrifice himself seemed like it was the way to go. I thought it held more weight because it was against a bunch of standard enemies, not some first-class elite super-sergeant Locust. I have respect for that.

I can talk about quite a bit more, but I'll spare you and finish up by saying that I felt the end of this game wraps up how it had to. I'm not fond of the Immulsion garbage being sentient, as I thought the Locust coming to the surface to destroy the humans because of them killing the planet was a much stronger story. It was kinda too late for that though, but you have to give this game props.

It actually ended without a retarded cliffhanger.

There are questions, sure, but the big ones were answered about the Locust and the Lambent. That story makes sense now even if that weird-ass giant machine somehow killed off all the Immulsion. Too many games out there now never finish their stories and I'll be damned if I can't say that Marcus really finished it.

5 months, 2 weeks ago 9 reasons a Call of Duty Elite Premium subscription is actually worth the money
It's too bad your experience with the Xbox was so terrible, but I definitely can tell you that between my 5 RRODs, I'm happy with the system presently. If your friend's Xbox sounds like a jet-engine it's definitely an old model. The newer 360's make minimal noise.

Between Microsoft and Sony, both companies have made huge mistakes this generation with their consoles. Saying one is better than the other because of "this problem" is a very weak argument at this point. To remain on topic with online connectivity, the 360 is by far the better console that utilizes online. $60 a year is not a lot of money, especially when you look at what the PS3 has and that doesn't even contain cross-game chat yet (nor will it ever).

I appreciate my PS3, but hearing you traded in your 360 for a PSP is embarrassing. In my opinion, it's a clunky mess of a system with few games even worth mentioning. At least with the 360 you can experience some amazing arcade games the PS3 never got and some great exclusives too.

Oh well, I guess it's too much to ask everyone to embrace all the consoles. Why don't the rest of you justify your purchases as well?
6 months, 3 weeks ago Mega Man is dead, and why that’s a good thing
A lot of people consider Mega Man 2 the best game in the entire series, but like Mr. Sterling says in the article, these are the people that really haven't played the rest of the games; they're going by whatever everyone else says. Getting mad that someone canceled a game when you weren't even going to buy it helps no one.

I really wish we'd get more 2d sidescrollers akin to the Castlevania games, Shadow Complex, and even Mega Man. MM9 and 10 were great games and the music was even better - I just don't want to see this style of gaming vanish for eternity.

I guess getting something rather than nothing is alright, but I for one am skipping this game until maybe 10 years from now when it drops to like $10. Why are people excited for this game? Nostalgia mostly but there's some good points in this article.

I think GamesRadar should weigh into the whole "remaking of older games" opinion as well. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus would be worth it since it's two games with a better framerate.
7 months, 3 weeks ago The Top 7... Best games of 2011 (so far)
Oh and I do agree, Mortal Kombat should be on this list for sure.

Ocarina of Time is timeless, of course, but no one can change the fact that it's just a re-release. MK should take its place. I agree with the rest of the list.
7 months, 3 weeks ago The Top 7... Best games of 2011 (so far)
One of the most underrated games this year is undoubtedly Dynasty Warriors 7.

Seriously, I'm not even joking.

What a step in the right direction Koei made. The hacking and slashing are standardized, but damn is it a good time!
8 months, 1 week ago E3 2011: Why Microsoft's press conference showed that it may have much bigger problems than Kinect
I can tell you that this generation I'm primarily an Xbox user. While I do have a PS3, I enjoy the controller, their exclusives, and the network of Xbox Live much, much better than Sony's. Saying that, Microsoft destroyed the ball yesterday.

E3 conferences are about showing off YOUR hardware, YOUR software, and YOUR exclusive content. Showing cross-platform games can be spiffy but it really isn't important to your cause. Even if we knew about most of it, Sony still showed off tons of exclusive content for their fans. That was important. Microsoft also showed exclusive content, but it was centralized around the Kinect and hardly anything else.

I will say that the VITA (what an unfortunate name) looks great. It's probably what the PSP should have been. As long as the games are great, and I don't see why they wouldn't be since Sony gets great third party support, it'll be a justifiable purchase. Especially at a $250 price point.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I JUST SAW, IT'S DEFINITELY NOT PREY BUT IT'S BADASS. I'M TALKING IN CAPS!

Seriously though, that trailer was incredible. It may have shown zero gameplay, but it was impressive beyond reckoning. I can't wait to see more of this game.

9 months, 2 weeks ago Why every Final Fantasy game is the best AND worst in the series
I have no idea how anyone can consider FFXII as their "favorite" in the entire series. The plot was atrocious and you didn't care about any of the characters at all. FFIV had more character development than this game and the battle system was astral vomit. "Let's constantly walk around in circles during combat so I can regenerate mana, har har har." Stupid.

Final Fantasy VI is definitely my number one.

GAMESRADAR! I AM DISAPPOINTED IN YOU!

Apparently you didn't check out any of the weapons. You know, the game is much more fun when you're messing with the Digger, Torque, Longshot, and new Incendiary grenades. C'mon man! Explore!
