While I am very interested in Sony's new product I definitely will be waiting to see how it fares.

Why?

First of all the price, while ostensibly low, isn't. The hardware is $250 but it DOESN'T come with internal storage. You have to buy that $50 memory card and then of course you're going to buy some games. The seemingly awesome entry level price of $250 now is right around $400 (with tax). I can wait.

Yeah, they don't really know anything about this game and it's pretty tough to watch. It's especially brutal in the beginning when he's getting shot from one guy behind him and he never turns around to address the issue.

Spike doesn't have any idea what they're doing. Look at the list.

By the way, Skyward Sword is listed as a game of the year contender? What?

The game isn't even out yet. LOL. Good job Spike.

Uh, you do know that "affect" fits in the title of the article right? Both "effect" and "affect" mean something different but they are similar.

Think of "effect" when having a result on something and "affect" when it acts on something.

No worries, it's something many people get confused.

I'm not sure about this but I will say that the dragon statue would look awfully nice next to my Sub-Zero and Scorpion bookends.

Maybe.

Matt! We must know!

Will the DMC3 version the the original version that was released (with the same difficulty) or will it represent the Special Edition emeraldphoenix7 was talking about?
4 months, 2 weeks ago Why Gears of War 3 is the Spider-Man 3 of video games
Dave, I know what you're trying to say and I do agree with certain parts but overall I can't agree with your statements.

Can you honestly say that Gears 2's story was all that great? The first title set the stage for a very mysterious enemy in a world torn by conflict. There were questions everywhere like what happened with Marcus and the law? Why did the Locust decide to come up now? And as you guys wrote it - are the Locust really the bad guys? All these questions really intrigued the player-base - especially me.

When Gears 2 began, that terse narrative expanded into the "bigger, better, and more badass" cliche that follows movies I really hate to talk about - Transformers 2. Epic diluted the experience of the second game by following this formula as well as allowing the script to be written by a 13-year old, energy drinking junkie. Dom's first-grade statements, "MMM, JUICY," and "I"LL SHOOT YA IN YOUR ASSES!" really put a damper on the emotional moments that really mattered in that game. Don't get me wrong, that scene with Dom's wife was chilling but something is taken away when you can't convey the character's feelings in a believable way. Especially when he says that stuff after the fact.

Saying all this, I hated how the story worked in Gears 2. The Brumak encounters, the "boss fights," everything felt paper thin. I was never worried about a Brumak in the second game because they just threw them at you like nothing. That and the Mortar was always there when one showed up, making them stupid. Skorge had a double-chainsaw staff? Isn't the whole chainsaw thing COG tech? His fight was awful as you won by tapping "B." Then, the final fight against the lambent Brumak wasn't even a fight at all. Yeah, the second game was just a blur of explosions, bromance, and all the extras thrown in to make it appear huge.

You complain about the character time in Gears 3 but the second game had far more characters walking about. At least this time around the characters aren't forced upon you in an attempt to try and make something crazy awesome happen. Hoffman is only in the game briefly as is Prescott. You don't see Baird and Cole too much and that new Bernie lady is just as ghost-like as Hoffman. So how does that work? I don't understand how you feel "cheated" with this cast as I feel it's a much more focused and likeable way of playing in the Gear's universe. For me there was no connection to Anya at all in the previous games - she was just a voice like Cortana. At least she's trying to help now that everybody needs it. Does that really seem all that forced to you?

Dom's death was coming. Every single person who has played the Gears games knew it coming into this. You didn't need to read the books or check out the special primers to know it was coming (which I didn't do). Really I thought it was handled about as well as it could have been. Karen Traviss rescued this narrative form the abyssal depths and having Dom sacrifice himself seemed like it was the way to go. I thought it held more weight because it was against a bunch of standard enemies, not some first-class elite super-sergeant Locust. I have respect for that.

I can talk about quite a bit more, but I'll spare you and finish up by saying that I felt the end of this game wraps up how it had to. I'm not fond of the Immulsion garbage being sentient, as I thought the Locust coming to the surface to destroy the humans because of them killing the planet was a much stronger story. It was kinda too late for that though, but you have to give this game props.

It actually ended without a retarded cliffhanger.

There are questions, sure, but the big ones were answered about the Locust and the Lambent. That story makes sense now even if that weird-ass giant machine somehow killed off all the Immulsion. Too many games out there now never finish their stories and I'll be damned if I can't say that Marcus really finished it.

The spinoffs for this series are really disappointing. Also, the names for these games are atrocious.

Dream Drop Distance? LMAO. How can you take that seriously?

About Me
I'm an open-minded gamer at heart and enjoy playing almost every type of game. As a matter of fact, I've been writing reviews since high school and am currently trying to get into the industry by doing something similar to GamesRadar; podcasts, reviews and the like. Unfortunately I'm unable to create the site due to my lacking ability in C++, HTML, etc. Any suggestions and or help would be appreciated. More about me: I enjoy talking about games and the industry as a whole (it's probably why I like TalkRadar so much). I own a 360 and am currently on my 5th one. I despise the way Nintendo is going with the Wii and am shocked that I haven't been intrigued enough to purchase a PS3. Some of my favorite games ever include Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Castlevania SOTN, Dawn of Sorrow, Half-Life 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Ace Combat, etc.
