1 day, 1 hour ago Darksiders II coming June 26, pre-order bonuses revealed
I hope these are usable the first time through. I hate when the preorder bonuses are only available after I've finished and moved on to the next game.
1 day, 22 hours ago The Top 7… Signs that the Vita isn’t repeating the PSP’s dumb mistakes
Why shouldn't they sell us on new systems? It potentially gives us so much more variety and wonderfulness. How can it be worse for us to have another great system, instead of Sony just throwing money at something that ends up being a huge failure? If no one tries to interest anyone in new systems they usually fail, becoming self-fulfilling prophecies of sorts.

4 days, 17 hours ago Which console will win 2012?
Every year I read that Nintendo is getting back to being the Nintendo of my youth, but I still haven't gotten any reasons to care. I'm getting tired of so much love and hope being heaped on a company that doesn't seem to be anything but nostalgia to me.
4 days, 18 hours ago Steam hack update: Data may be compromised, watch your credit cards
Will we hear the cries that "these idiots clearly had no security in place and are morons who don't care about taking care of their customers" like we did with Sony? I still haven't heard what it was that actually happened with the Sony situation. Eventually we're all just going to have to accept that hackings are going to happen, and most of us won't be affected very much by them, hopefully.
6 days, 6 hours ago Skyrim: The amazing bits you DIDN'T see... but that still might come as DLC
I'm not sure why anyone would believe that waypoints would load quickly, when every other thing in the game takes minutes to load. And if you were able to fly dragons they'd really need to put in lots of dragons or other large creatures to fight, just fighting bandits wouldn't be that thrilling for long.
6 days, 19 hours ago The Simpsons Arcade Game review
I watched for a few more seasons, but 8 was the last good season, and it had a few episodes that were terrible precursors to what would be standard shortly thereafter. 7 was probably my favorite season altogether, and "You Only Move Twice" is one of my favorite shows, and a great way to start off the last season I enjoyed.

It'd be cool if they did a digital version of the Simpsons pinball, too. We had it in our college snack bar, and I'd constantly hear it say, "It's Princess Cashmere!"
6 days, 19 hours ago 10 hard-to-find classics that deserve a second chance
I've played everything here except for the PC games on page two, and I've always wanted to play Day of the Tentacle, after having Maniac Mansion on NES. I still own most of them, but I've never thought of seeing how much they might be worth.
1 week ago GameStop drops 3DS price to $150 right before Vita launch, is this going to happen everywhere?
If they bring out a new Castlevania for either system I'm in. Castlevania has gotten me to buy the GBA and DS, and PSP, but there's nothing even on the horizon, unfortunately.
1 week, 1 day ago Saints Row designer: Bring on the used games lockouts
This is my problem with increasing digital product. It's getting to be only the very first person gets to use it, you can't pass it along to brothers or parents or anything, or you have to buy another copy.
1 week, 4 days ago GR’s weekend giveaway: Final Fantasy XIII-2
I guess I might try it out on PS3, though I haven't played any Final Fantasy since 8.

Those things are all not entirely untrue, but I still enjoyed Skyrim for 150 hours.

Both of the projected games of the year are series that I haven't really gotten into, though I played the first Bioshock. I don't know what else is supposed to come out this year that's really giving them a run for their money so far, though.
1 week, 6 days ago 5 things Kingdoms of Amalur does better than Skyrim
I didn't find that many skills I actually wanted in Skyrim. Playing one-handed and not using power attacks much there weren't that many skills that were useful. Having to get through a bunch of skills I didn't want to get the ones that were useful to me was a bit of a pain, too. But it wasn't so bad, altogether.

Some DLC cards in boxes do have expiration dates. I can't remember which game I saw it in, but something recent only lasts till the end of this year, I think.
2 weeks ago 5 things Kingdoms of Amalur does better than Skyrim
I didn't like the UI in the Amalur demo very much. I also didn't like the UI in Skyrim very much. It would be nice to get new weapons all the time, but it's kind of nice in Skyrim when you can just get a weapon, smith it up, and not have to worry about checking everything you come across looking for something better.

I liked the Amalur demo enough to keep it in mind for someday. It seems more like Fable to me than Elder Scrolls. I'm not sure I want more fantasy adventure right now, after just finishing up 150 hours of Skyrim, but if it ends up being good enough I'd sure look into it after playing El Shaddai and Shadows of the Damned, which I just got pretty cheap from Amazon.
2 weeks ago Plus Alpha: When Japanese snacks and pop culture collide
Do they ever do new series, though? Pokemon's pretty old, Dragon Ball's very old, Gundam's very old, One Piece is pretty old, I wonder how often they add a new product line to add to products?
2 weeks, 2 days ago Top 7... Final Fantasy spinoffs
I never knew that Seiken Densetsu was supposed to be a spinoff of FF, I thought they just called the American Gameboy game Final Fantasy Adventure to bank on the name, like they did for Legend, instead of calling it SaGa here. I sure loved Secret of Mana, though, and FF Adventure, for that matter.

Tactics is the only other game here I've played, and it was pretty good. I'd played Shining Force and Vandal Hearts before it, so I was familiar with the style, but having the FF world was nice.
2 weeks, 3 days ago TalkRadar 196 - Live from some bar
I've listened to Chris on a few other podcasts that don't feature other Tdar members, and just having him there doesn't make them quite as entertaining as Tdar. It's the chemistry between him and Brett, Mikel, and/or Henry most of the time that makes Tdar, and Laser Time so good. The other stuff is fine, but it lacks a little something.
2 weeks, 4 days ago 13 games we want announced in 2012
I wasn't actually that thrilled with God of War 3. But GOW could go on the way Castlevania Lords of Shadow could, coming to the present day. Or, since Kratos killed off the gods of his time, he could make his way through time, fighting the various other gods around the world, and end up with the Judeo-Christian one, ushering in an age of atheism and science, with no more gods or superstition.
2 weeks, 4 days ago High Horse: MMORPG’s sort of suck and really need to change
I think a good MMO would be something like Playstation Home, with a number of different genres available in one game. Having a community that you can do lots of different things with, instead of just whacking rats, is really what we want, isn't it? A world that lets us do lots of different things with other people.
