@redeater-that's just because capitalism works that way. Profit is king-every single time.
3 months, 1 week ago Remedy: Don’t judge the upcoming XBLA Alan Wake by its platform
I don't always feel DLC is a con but, to me, the DLC for the original game really should have come with the disc at release as it just seemed like it SHOULD have been there to add things the game itself badly lacked and would have meant a much better, more well rounded(and rounded off) Alan Wake experience.

I felt it added to a few aspects of the game which, had they been in the full game, would have helped with both story and variety of gameplay in a game crying out for a bit of closure AND a bit more than the meat and spuds gameplay we got on the disc-it never got anywhere and the DLC being part of the actual game would have, erm, remedied that for my mind.

With this in mind I just hope they continued their post release form as, imho, the post game stuff as of a better quality than the game alone and who knows, yet, what roads this is headed down.

I'm probably the only one but I'd really thought we'd be getting a big R* game set outside the US as I think they've, especially with GTA, explored most of what they can do with a US setting and Agent seems to be dead and would only be of interest to PS3 owners if it wasn't.

Either way, it was time for a modern GTA set in a city outside the US with several great cities springing to mind with the madness of post Soviet Moscow being my favourite-to me the stay in the US just smacks of imaginative death. Am I alone in feeling GTA could have been best going abroad and being more amazing than before. I'm just sad they showed no creative balls and took the lazy, predictable, done it all before route just to please all the SA babies who cried when GTA4 tried to be a bit more adult-it's greatest strengh.

Well done, my namesake, but I bet it wouldn't take you three pages top call a Sony game "meh", would it? Make no bones about it, either, "meh" IS the descriptive term, most fitting to this claptrap of missed ideas and lack of BLACKness.

As a typical UK gamer the Twisted Metal series has TOTALLY passed me by. I've NEVER seen a copy of ANY of the games in the flesh, in a store and my total excperience of TM is the few videos me and a mate watched on Youtube when messy after we watch a Sweettooth Black story cutscene by accident!

Anyway, I DO remember Jaffe saying in OPMUK that TM wasn't subtle enough for the EU or Japan and wondered if this one LOOKS more suitable for my delicate Uk gaming tendencies!! If they were making this as a multiplatform game I'd be more hopeful of it find ENOUGH gamers to make it a success ut with a lot of PS gamers in the US(where the series was big) now 360 gamers is there a big enough base for this game to succeed if, or when, it fails to be pushed, bought or even stocked in the EU because, like I said, it's fore runners NEVER seemed to be and the last time I ever saw anything about a TM game in UK media(before E3 last year anyway) was a sole review for the very first TM in a very early OPM!

Because of said review I DID look for the first game and then forgot all about it until that drunken night of Youtube discovery some twelve years later! Very scary for Jaffe and ESP to see, as above, the number of actual TM vets who aren't "feeling" this one either. If Sony don't REALLY promote this one I see it really crashing and burning regardless of ho good it might be for a TM game-is the car combat genre big enough to support an exclusive on PS3?
5 months, 3 weeks ago Is PlayStation Home the future of all videogames?
People who visited early in the closed beta, say, and haven't been back are genuinely AMAZED when they visit Home today and realise that it actually MIGHT be the thing we all imagined the first time Sony talked about it. Since those cold, eastern european, Soviet Bloc days of Home it's gathered content upon content, feature upon feature and added a lot fo the things that coyuld have already been there had Sony been a bit more thoughtful about letting us in so early.

Home always had potential it's just that, for the past year or so, it[s actually begun to be somewhere you can spend a coupla hours without just doing things because they're there and y'know, it took a while to download so I might as well-no, now there are things you'd actually just DO if they were on PSN or PC or XBLA as a demo or whatever. If they can find a way to tempt gamers into the spaces for individual games or the publishers of their fave games they'll start to get gamers seeing the worth of it all over again and it could become a kind of uber specialised Facebook crossed with a game of it's own that just sprawls into everything in your collection on PS3(and maybe Steam given Valve's noises)with the added bonus of hearing and seeing like minded people all the while you're there. It's early days were blighted by sex pests and lady boy avatar freaks but these days people are starting to enjoy waiting for mates there-E.G we have a hangover chess club where we've been teaching kids the game . After teaching them a few moves we'll all head off to play Blops Zombies or some KZ3 or whatever-it's moving away from just being a place for the home junkies(who still exist in great numbers buying up stuff and making someone serious cash!)and into having a legit chance at becoming a weird hub for gamers to meet, mix and wait for their next session.

Sure most PS3 users still don't use it like that but it IS increasing and the Home/doom arguments are less frequent even at N4G these days and there's still a shedload of things they could, but haven't yet, done. I'd love to see, next year or latyer this, a virtual representation of TGS or E3 or GC. We get the Sony speeches and shows relayed to Home but having the show floor in Home would be mindblowing and if you could get third parties etc putting the same demos on the virtual kiosks and booths as irl Home would be doing exactly the kind of things we dreamed it might and if it could also tie their current and previous games into that it's going beyond what i'd hoped for.

No, it ain't there yet but Home is still a genius idea that merely needs to get more people on board to justify the outlay to take it to a whole new level of virtual/real world crossovers that would really make it tick for the core gamer AND anyone just interested in tech and gaming. If it becomes a big enough market there WILL be an E3 invite for anyone with a Playstation IMHO and when that kind of thing is happening who'd say Sony were daft to chase this idea?
5 months, 4 weeks ago X-Men Destiny reveals more mutations with new set of screens
I sat patiently through the turgid, lengthy development of the risible Too Human, I put up with DD's stupid statements about the game pre release and when it finally dropped I played it through too-I STILL never lost hope , even then.

After that I heard SK were doing this and hoped for an amazing X-men game until I heard all the details of the half arsed way you aren't going to either be able to be a proper X-man OR fully tailor your own character either and having SEEN bits of the game I'm even more underwhelmed. Now, I don't know if the hope has died as it's been a LONG time with no titbits of good news to fuel any fresh hope for a sequel that EVERY sane gamer over five wants-ED2. Drop this quickly, get out of the mess and allow us fans to chip in towards making a new Eternal Darkness game, yes, Den?
6 months ago RAGE's mandatory install on PS3 is... HUGE
@bladedfalcon-Exactly, if installing helps with load times, FPS and so on why is it reported as such a big deal when there's a mandatory on PS3? I've had games on 360 installed in,. what, five minutes or so and, using Alan Wake as an example, i'd say I ended up on the winning side , time wise and quality wise, over my mate who runs off disc with his 4gig slim. Honestly, I feel if you added up the lengths of his loads they'd out do my install plus loads by a decent length of time over the length of the game as they were(load screens) so much quicker to get through with the game installed.

five minutes at the start to cut total loads down from twenty minutes(for example) to ten with the added performance bonus in tear and FPS etc on top(pop in too)-who wouldn';t install who had the room?
6 months ago RAGE's mandatory install on PS3 is... HUGE
Are we really saying this is either news or(just the same as pointless crying about multiple discs for gamers on 360-also no issue)a pain of unthinkable magnitude for PS3 gamers?

I'm used to BIG installs on PC for great games, I'm someone who ALWAYS installs EVERY game I can on 360 (my old shape Elite still scratches the odd disc and the less work it does the better)and someone who WISHES you got that option more often on PS3 rather than just this half way house whenever a PC heavy developer comes along unused to optimal use of PS3 hardware. I'm not digging iD there just saying it's no shock a PC dev would use the short cut of an install on PS3 given they don't work on it often.

Also, iD have said this ensures there will be NO pop in on PS3 and the console versions will be, like all decent releases these days, near identical as possible. Play on PC if you are that bothered about graphics and have the rig to do it justice(I probably will)or play it on whichever console you like/own/prefer the controller for as it's going top be a good game on all platforms and look good too. If, however, you hate installs I'd just not play it at all as it'll need one to be it's best WHATEVER you play it on and I'm praying for a full install option on 360 top avoid too much disc changing-as apparently, like five minutes for PS3 fans, these kind of things are game breaking!!! FFS. FIND proper news, yes?

If I could fully install EVERY game I could to help the hardware and improve how the game runs I'd do it and this install is for those reasons and on 360 it's a multiple disc game so installing there will be the order of the day as it always has been on PC. where's the issue?

Bugger! Aside from finally having a SotC with a frame rate in double figures all the way through all this is gonna do is make my TLG cravings totally unbearable. Great that more people will get to play these incredibly moving, emotion raising experiences. For me, though, it's going to make the wait feel even longer for the next TI game.
