You guys are both right. Jbo is right about the scoring guide. It is critically flawed. In a society were students are given rank based on a letter grade, the C & B students are passed off as inferior. Much like video games, if a game is given a 7 or 70%, the community perceives it as a "might as well never been made" title. This just isn't true.
I think we need to change the review system to a more qualitative grading system. More of an expectations guide.
May.be.vital is very correct as well. Metacritic is a flawed system because of the number grades given. As Corsair said, people need to pick a critic who matches their tastes in gaming and just follow them. Any half-wit can grade a game.
The Conduit looks good, but I still think the only place an FPS should exist is on the PC. I bought a Wii because I LOVE platformers, and Nintendo always delivers in this category. Still, I'm crossing my fingers about MotionPlus. It may change my mind about the FPS genre. Maybe.
Overlord was one of those hidden gems for me. I truly enjoyed playing. Now its the Wii's turn. I just hope this one isn't some rehash with new controls.
Good selection, however, I feel that half-life should have been included on the list. Or at least honorably mentioned. Anyone remember fighting through the computer?
This article makes me want to cut myself and wear my younger sister's pants.
Just kidding. I was wondering when you guys were going to address the issue of the self-loathing/bad ass/emo main character stereotype that so many JRPGs use.
