Don't have FN4 yet, but I played the demo and I was picking my jaw up off the floor every couple o' minutes. The fighting is so fluid, and the fact of no canned animations & no clipping, EVER, is just plain marvelous. I'm grinning just thinking about it! Having that applied to MMA could be poetry in motion...
Hmm... So what happens if, like in my case, Wrex ISN'T dead at the end of ME1? Will I still meet Grunt? Will I have to choose which one I want in my party? Can I have both? And may I be the FIRST (heh) to ask about that bald, biotic chick? She's conspicuously lacking any mention in your report...
@chillarome: The AC2 SE ar GameStop includes a statue of Ezio, in game dlc amounting to an extra hidden area to flit about in (that will be available later for purchase), a behind the scenes DVD, and one of those metal cases, I believe. I've had mine on pre-order for MONTHS, so it's been a while since I read the ad.
@TURbo: Considering much of AC is set in the birthplace of the world's three main modern religions, calling it a "Biblical setting" regardless of time is more than apt. Perhaps you should get your definitions right, before you decide to insult someone else's fact checking.
@PinkLenny: Don't be so sure - DVs developer is mostly made up of ex-FASA employees, y'know, the guys responsible for Crimson Skies on the OX? That game was all sorts of fun.
@AfricanWoolf: The dif here is that this review is for the PC version, while the review you've linked to is for the Xbox, which, from the sound of the review, is simply a horrible port. Shouldn't detract from the PC version at all...
I have to say, I am terribly disappointed with this article. Just about every ad here (aside from Nights) is an example of mature, thoughtful, and artistic vision. And guess what? It WORKED! Each game represented here (again, aside from Nights) is a frickin' blockbuster, largely spurred on by the hype generated from these ads that weren't just in your face trying to bludgeon you into buying their games. And you spend a WHOLE ARTICLE bashing them. Worse, you then give examples of "how it should've happened" that are nothing but the same, routine bullshit. Seriously?
Certainly, if these games had been commercial failures, this article would've made some sense. Instead, you just look like you haven't a wit of sense about you, writing the worst article I've ever had the displeasure of reading on this site.
By the bye, that Gears 1 add is STILL on my Xbox HDD. I haven't had the heart to delete it, because I just love watching it. If you don't like the add, fine. If that was just what this article was about, I would simply just be disagreeing with you and moving on. However, the style you used here made it seem like you weren't just expressing YOUR opinions, you were expressing EVERYONES' opinion. That, sir, is the very DEFINITION of having one's head up one's own ass.
I certainly hope this article is an anomaly, and not a sign of things to come. This site has been my first destination everyday ever since I first discovered it, and I'd not like that to change any time soon.
I love the new direction stealth has taken lately in games, much more dynamic. Never could get into Splinter Cell before, but this game has certainly piqued my interest.
I remember reading about this in OXM some ages ago, talking about how the water physics ain't just pretty, they're the whole point of the game. That and the sanity of the hydrophobic main character. Made me think of Eternal Darkness underwater back then. Now it sounds more like Uncharted on a sinking boat, sprinkled with a little Bioshock. Either way, as someone who has spent most of his life close to water, I can tell you it can be pretty scary under the right conditions. If they get the water physics right, in all those cramped spaces, with gun-totin' terrorists? Yeah, that sounds pretty tense to me...
i have played most of the portable games and i plan on buying the psp one in a few weeks because my copy of symphony of the night is not working well and i never finshed it because every time i went to a new area it would mess up the color and stuff badly and i hope the new one isnt crap like judgement
