I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this game turns out. And in an on-topic sense, I'd take her default outfit over any of those DLC ones. But either way, I loved a lot about Shadows so I'm absolutely interested to see Suda's take on a slightly different genre.
Nice article Dave, and it's come at a good time. 2011 was really the year in which a lot of multiplatform releases were "best on PC" since the start of this console generation. And the wide and easy support for the 360 controller on PC, as well as backdoor methods for using others such as the Dualshock 3, means that even games which don't suit the mouse and keyboard as well can be played comfortably on a PC to take advantage of the hardware.
I got my first owned PC a little over 3 years ago when I left to go to University, only a cheap one and it works but I don't game that much on it compared to consoles. But at the start of this year I made a resolution that I would build my own gaming PC by the summer at the latest - with my current aim being to do it in the Easter break. I'll still be doing my fair share of console gaming, particularly for local multiplayer, but I'm looking forward to becoming more integrated in the (actually, for the most part, incredibly friendly and just out to have fun) PC gaming community.
Well I'm glad they've opted for the standard Ogre, I feel as though perhaps True Ogre was a little big and clunky to actually fit in here. Nice few additions, only real surprise would be Ogre I guess as the others all seemed to be shoe-ins.
Well on the one hand that's reassuring - means they can be a bit more adventurous and take a few risks on things other companies perhaps wouldn't be able to afford to.
On the other hand, it might be slightly concerning that they might not be paying as much attention to the desires of fans just because they know that they're safe either way. That said perhaps that's not such a bad thing - after all, it's often said that us gamers don't really know what we actually want, we just think that we do.
Gotta agree, I think smartphones are great but I'll pay around half the price of an iPhone to get a machine that is actually dedicated to games and just stick with a regular-ass phone. And the only reason I'd really considered getting an iPhone was for the games, in fact I was swaying more towards an iPod touch (even though I have a regular iPod) but that pretty much won't be necessary now.
Great article Cundy. I am really looking forward to one, but my excitement has dropped a little to the "might wait a while" stage, partly as I'm planning to build a PC soon and the cost of that is so high that I can't really justify buying a full console that close to it.
Haha, oh man that's so ridiculous. If the preferable controls for fighting games and other exclusives weren't enough to decide which platform I should buy this on (and they were, the controller did that alone), then this has definitely sealed the deal.
Haha, nice job Justin! Love the Bayonetta, Mushroom, and Blue shells one in particular. Also that Zelda one made me chuckle, see so many of those adverts these days...
Yep. Pretty much with you on all three points there Dave. Don't have too much of a problem with the online pass if it only blocks online content, anything else just screws over the people who don't have internet connections for their consoles.
Ideally the solution would be just for a percentage of all used sales to go to the devs (at least for first 3 years of release say), even if it's not much compared to what they'd get on a new copy they'll still be getting their fiver and that seems fairer. Don't see it happening any time soon though.
I haven't played the TCG since the first set but compared to those that card is nuts. Even with that 2-prize rule on it. But then perhaps it's just that I've been away from the game so long that it's changed enough to where that's fine. Only Blastoise really comes close and you had to evolve up to him.
Great article Andrew. I admire the beautiful simplicity behind the pause function, it's nice to see how it operates under the hood almost exactly as it appears, and why developers might choose not to permit pausing in certain situations.
I constantly have an issue (not entirely pause-related, but kinda) in Skyrim where I have a habit of jumping prior to hitting the map screen - which then means fast travel doesn't work as I'm in midair (presumably to prevent avoiding falling to your death by travelling somewhere).
We'll miss you Nathan. Good luck with the new job, sounds amazing! Although with Nath being the man to keep Cundy under control in the podcast, I'm looking forward to hearing what'll happen when he's not there.
Also another top-notch cast guys! The first shame which pops to mind (another recent and SR3-related one) was when we first jumped in to saints row with our created characters. My friend made his female character do a sexy dance and bend over, and my male character stood directly behind and did the slow-mo "jerkin the gherkin" animation. After about five seconds of hilarity, I felt a genuine pang of awkwardness.
They do this a lot. You'll often find stuff (even CDs) cheaper than the first copy just by looking through all the copies there. I've seen a lot of things priced at least 2 different ways for the same item. And often even the cheaper one isn't that great value half the time.
Nice vid guys, would have been nice if you could have gone through that last few moments shot-by-shot and show them all. Some pretty nice ideas in here though!
Looking forward to this. The series has moved further away from horror and more towards action through 4 and 5, but I really enjoy the game it's become. A little concerned that this looks a touch too "full-auto guns" but perhaps that's just for the trailers sake. I hope it doesn't become too much of a Gears-style game, much as I love that. I do admire the way they seem to understand that a game doesn't have to spend it's entire life in one fixed genre area if it doesn't want to though.
