The first game I bought was Conker's Bad Fur Day. I was eight and wandering with my mother. I had done some chores for a neighbor and had 15 dollars. A stoned clerk who felt he needed to play a joke on my mother pitched it to me and I bought it, attracted by the box art. Best. Joke. Ever. To this day, one of my very favorite games.

... every instrument in a rythm game. I never personally buy them, but my friends continue to shell out $60 dollars for a game and more every time a new instrument comes out. On the old guitars, with an accelerometer for star power, they broke after completing the game. The drums make more noise that the TV at full volume and you can hear them through your headset. Speaking of which, why buy a microphone when you have a HEADSET?! Guitar Hero/Rock Band are the bane of my existance.

Forgot Castlevania. I am younger, so it took a lot of bargaining with the used game store people to get all the old school games/consoles. My sega genesis did hold out till the end though!

Does Ico/Shadow of the Colossus count?
Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, though I don't really count that as a series. (No plot continuity? WTF?!)

Wait i forgot Tekken Tag Tournament. Another honorable mention. I destroyed everyone with Eddy/Hwaorang combo. And then my sister had to ruin it by trying to remove a smudge WITH HER TEETH. Arrrrgh.

... well... since the first games i remember playing are rather hazy, I will approximate.

5. Mario Kart: I'm sorry I can't remember the console, I was three. However, every waking moment seemed to revolve around this.
4. Mortal Kombat: I spent so much time trying to replicate my accidental appearance of Reptile, I may have spent 70+ hours playing that game. And the fact that goro was an unbeatable a-hole didn't help.
3. Okami: Sadly, no sequel. However, bead hunting was enough for me. after 5 playthroughs i had everything. I used no online FAQs. I just wandered. For hours. When I finally got it and all I received was invincibility, I was annoyed. However, I had everything. Even that damn blocky in Nippon. And then my sister deleted it. My eyes water at the remembrance.
2. Pokemon!: Every version. Red. Blue. Yellow. Gold. Silver. Crystal. Firered. Leafgreen. Ruby. Sapphire. Emerald. Pearl. Diamond. Platinum. I freaked out (in my head) when i learned about HeartGold/Soulsilver. Damn you nintendo. I am your money whore. Every version probably has 100+ hours. But, pearl has the most, clocking in at 232:17. My pokedex still isn't complete. *tears*
1: Oblivion: I'm sorry to conform in several of these, but his is my biggest one. Since I, living in a backwoods town, didn't have the updates/DLC till about 6 months ago, i would roam the country side searching for glitches. Agility?450. Athletics? 300. Beyond the normal glitches (copying) i have found a litch to rip a person from their body. The body lays on the ground and a poltergeist attacks you. I can knock myself into the air to see the layout of the entire countryside. Mind you this is all on the 360.
Honorable Mention: Runescape. I'm sorry, librarians. My addiction had me here every day for years stealing your internets.

Ha! i scoff at a you unfortunate wretches. My mother actually played God of War, (both of them) and lvoed them. I constantly rub it in her face that i get to play retro games at a friends house, courtesy of XBLA, and she doesn't. now, i have to debate the buying of a 360 or PS3 with her. Because she was so stupid as to buy a Wii without consulting me.

I just blew a load in my shorts. For Reals. I enjoyed horde, with its ridiculous array of monsters, but with so little variety... oh who cares, I'm gonna buy it anyways. The weapons will make up for it.
