I'd say this is bit of a hit and miss article. While I can't speak for the ones I haven't played, I didn't find too many of the ones mentioned that memorable. If I were to add anything, it would be Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime, Sky Sanctuary from Sonic & Knuckles, Whomp's Fortress and Hazy Maze Cave from Super Mario 64, and Santuary Fortress from Metroid Prime 2. |

I can attest for God of War and Bayonetta having some of the best boss fights I've ever seen. I believe the best bosses are the ones you get to see fall apart as the battle goes on; it's just so much more satisfying than shooting a guy until his health bar hits zero. |

Mikami said the development of Vanquish went very smoothly, which, in today's industry, means they didn't do enough. I love Vanquish, and I'm still playing it, but I was kind of expecting something longer and a tad less recycle-y from the makers of Okami and Bayonetta. God Hard IS hard, but if you do manage to complete it, it doesn't really offer anything after that. |

Super Scribblenauts (DS): Super Scribblenauts will introduce adjectives, "upgraded controls" |

I'm really excited for this. Scribblenauts biggest downfall, besides the control scheme, of course, was its horribly unbalanced vocabulary- 90% of the items were either game breaking or worthless. The adjective system really seems to nail that problem. In fact, it doesn't seem like any of the problems I had in the original seem to be returning. |

7 things we want from Dead Space 2 |
|
|
I don't know what's so confusing about the plot. Mining ship finds alien artifact. Mining ship takes alien artifact. Alien artifact releases parasites that turn dead people into zombies. Religious group believes this is the next step in human evolution and should be propagated. Ship breaks down. An engineer and his group comes to repair it. Alien artifact releases mind control waves trying to convince people to return it. One betrays the engineer by trying to sell it on the black market. Engineer tries to return it, but is unsuccessful and flies off. There, I just broke it down for you in detail in 9 steps. I agree about the rest. Except the co-op. One thing that Dead Space did wrong is isolation. Yes, you were alone almost the whole game, but that was strongly subverted by having your mates contact you every two minutes. In Dead Space 2, I want it to be just me versus zombies and maybe another crazy religious zealot. Besides, co-op just would likely end up being no more two people trying to play the same game. It would be worthless if they're not really going to be interacting with or assisting each other. |

This can't hope to replace the experience. Yes, the decisions are in there, but the character and consequence isn't. At the third trial, I cut off Ethan's finger. Ethan was the one with the knife, but I was the one who told him to do it. I felt the remorse afterward. People say the Heavy Rain is more of a movie than a game. I agree to a point, but taking away the interactivity it DOES have leaves it as just a shell. |

I loved this game simply because of it's interactive factor. Without it, it would really be nothing special. Not to spoil anything, but there is a scene where Ethan puts himself through intense pain. If I were watching a movie, I'd probably just cringe or close my eyes. But since I was the one doing it here, I actually felt the guilt and remorse of doing it. Say what you will of the story's quality, but it's a damn immersive game. |

I'm with you on the last one but the first 9 seem incredibly nitpicky. The rings are too big? Sonic doesn't have the exact same design as he did on the genesis? It's not ENTIRELY 2D? Cry me a river. I get the nostalgia, but come on, this is ridiculous. And I can't really say anything about the episodic part though. Just because it's episodic doesn't mean each episode won't be a full length game in itself. |
