I'd say this is bit of a hit and miss article. While I can't speak for the ones I haven't played, I didn't find too many of the ones mentioned that memorable. If I were to add anything, it would be Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime, Sky Sanctuary from Sonic & Knuckles, Whomp's Fortress and Hazy Maze Cave from Super Mario 64, and Santuary Fortress from Metroid Prime 2.
Wake me when they remember Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 existed and stop making the levels so piss easy and replacing them with completely unrelated minigames.
Dude, what the heck? No Prototype? Really? Dead Rising 2 I was definately expecting, but you can't tell me that none the 101 ways you can take down a helicopter in that game kick flying steel ass.
I'm hoping the Platinum game is Vanquish 2. Bayonetta was long and had closure. Vanquish was short and left open. I loved Bayonetta, but Vanquish left me wanting so much more.
I can attest for God of War and Bayonetta having some of the best boss fights I've ever seen. I believe the best bosses are the ones you get to see fall apart as the battle goes on; it's just so much more satisfying than shooting a guy until his health bar hits zero.
It's not even just the developers who remixed it- this is by far the most popular Sonic song to remix- I've seen countless variations- even more than Chemical Plant or Green Hill.
It's actually a pretty good list and well justified. Not one I fully agree with- Alan Wake just isn't as memorable as it should be considering what it's trying to pull off.
