Xbox 360 (Xbox 360): Confessions of a Game Store Clerk - Part Three
If you guys are regulars, there's a good chance the employees of the store like you, like the guys in the article said. I work at Gamestop, and can attest to the fact that the arrival of friendly regulars can really turn around a crappy day!

While there are a LOT of ignorant customers in the store, I actually have a MUCH bigger problem with the company management. Especially lately, with the new store manager getting VERY little done around the store, work piling up (how would you like to stare a week's backlog of price changes in the face just because you haven't worked in as long?), and random crap in the back room booby-trapping break and bathroom space.

Plus, dealing with the fact that the store is so dang SMALL (a problem that increased exponentially with the release of Rock Band and like games) is a constant hassle I could do without.

I continue to work there because Costco didn't seem to care for my application, and because I do like working there for the way it keeps me in with the games, which are my life-long passion anyway. Plus, some of my coworkers (and the regular customers) are great friends I wouldn't like to leave.

"That Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to be on the Wii. Oh, and that it's going to feature Mario wielding a key blade."

Are you kidding me? I had a COWORKER who thought that until I corrected him! He's a serious gamer, too. Reason for it is in the April 2007 issue of Gamepro, I believe. An April Fool's joke article for "Mushroom Kingdom Hearts". The more you know, eh?

That's an INSULT to the game! On the other hand, it may help build the fanbase for the eventual success of the sequel. I hope.

The greatest Sonic game we never got to play
Interesting article. I first heard of Sonic X-treme in Nintendo Power a couple months ago, and it keeps coming back ever since (especially on this site).

Even so, I must say that I don't like the looks of this game AT ALL! No disrespect to the people who worked their butts off to make this thing, but to me, it looks HORRIBLE! Navigation appears to be the absolute worst the series has ever encountered, and the 3D control looks even clunkier than some modern versions. Again, I stress that I don't want to devalue anybody's work, insult anyone, or anything like that, but this is my honest opinion on the matter.

I feel that all in all, Sonic should have never left 2D, period. But since he did (and I'm sure I'm going to be flamed for this one), I say that Sonic Unleashed is one of the best of the bunch. The night levels get a level of bashing they DO NOT deserve, and everybody can more or less agree that the day levels are awesome (any cheap deaths are caused by problems the series has had since game 1).

I'm not even a die-hard Sonic fanboy (grew up with Nintendo, and bought a Genesis on Ebay a few years ago), but I still think it's horrible how he's constantly attacked and ridiculed, when his games aren't even half as bad as people say (barring Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, whose demo I couldn't stand, and whose story looked NAUSEATING based on things I've seen on this site).

Sonic as a series deserves a good deal more respect than it's given lately (and Sonic IS better than real hedgehogs, thank you very much!). As with most things in this world, he's bashed so much that it's literally IMPOSSIBLE for his stuff to be as bad as people say.

Well, that's my crazy-butt long rant. I do ask that people don't go about flaming me TOO much. All I did is tell the truth, and a lot of you know it. Dozens of games have problems as bad as Sonic titles and worse every year, but his get the most negative talk, and for no good reason whatsoever.

The Top 7 worst games in great games
I liked Blitzball enough, I was kinda hoping they'd make a stand-alone version with improvements including multiplayer (online, maybe also off if they could manage it)! That's obviously never going to happen, though.

I do fully agree about Pub Games, though. Well, except for the fact that I got it free with the reserve deal. The most annoying part was definitely the Achievements (which I do have all of, amazingly).

The 10 most pointless videogame subtitles ever
Hilarious article. I agree with those who have said that some of the subtitles make sense, but the sarcasm is GREAT! I defy you to think of a better subtitle for Tomb Raider: Underworld, though. :P

The Top 7... Cringeworthy Kisses
That kiss in Enter the Matrix was obviously SUPPOSED to be like that because the woman was being FORCED to kiss. If you really expect her to show boatloads of hot romance under those circumstances, you're obviously paying too much attention to the kiss and not enough to the story.

I also disagree that the kiss the The Wizard was cringe-inducing. Kinda stupid, yeah, but more worth laughing at than cringing. How he got away with that stunt, I'll never know.
Oh, wait. Scriptwriting. Of course! :P

The Top 7... games that should've had co-op
Beast Rider isn't half as bad as most of those reviews claim, but I agree that it's dumb that it didn't have co-op in the first place. It's not the first Golden Axe game that didn't, mind you (that goes to Golden Axe Warrior, released in 1991 for the Sega Master System), but there was an INSANE amount of criticism given the game due to no co-op that SHOULD'VE been predicted by the developer before even taking this route.

How Metacritic rules the games industry
I use Metacritic only as a link to reviews in different score ranges. It's how I found the 4.5 out of 5 that Hardcore Gamer Magazine gave to Sonic Unleashed, which was by far the most accurate review for the game I've ever seen. But I wouldn't pay the SLIGHTEST bit of attention to the average that Metacritic gives. It means less than nothing. But if you can't find a high score in your usual mags and think a game must be better than they're saying, there's a decent chance you can find a more fair-minded review linked from Metacritic.

The greatest game on every platform
I still have the NES version of Archon. Pretty good, though I know some folks over at VC-Reviews.com (mostly the ones in Europe, where the VC actually HAS C64 games) who would disagree with that choice.

Overall this list seemed odd to me. Very through, though, having almost every system ever on there. But for all the crap systems on the list, why wasn't the Phillips CD-i shown? Can't bear the thought it, huh?

I had the same problem as "sharker" above. I click on "Why you'll be trading in your DS Lite for a DSi" in the e-mail newsletter, and I'm assaulted with THIS garbage (no offense to everybody who obviously wants this game, but I am EXTREMELY disinterested in GTA in general)!

Characters you never knew had the same voice actor
I knew about James Arnold Taylor just from recognizing the voice and checking credits.

Cam Clarke was also in the Veggietales movie The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, playing the villain. I vote that weirder than Simba by far based on knowing him from Metal Gear Solid.

There were a couple others I recognized, but some of them were among their "Also known as" sections. Cool article all told, anyway.

About Me
I'm a life-long gamer who owns every current system (and many past ones as well). I work at Gamestop, doing my best to break their mold and BE A GOOD AND HELPFUL WORKER! I prefer RPG's for the most part, and avoid realistic sports and racing games entirely. Shooters I take in small doses.

I don't really like the connotations of "collecting dust" in my game collection. For me, it means I have it, maybe I even played a good chunk of it, but I never actually BEAT it. Doesn't mean I don't like it or anything. I buy a LOT of games, and there's just not enough time for everything, y'know?

Also, some games in my collection may be for Virtual Console, but the site's listings for those is lack-luster. Paper Mario is a prime example. I have it on VC, but it's listed as N64 because that's the only way I can list it at all.
