I have to agree with db1331. I am a big SW fan, but will not pay the $$$ for both the game and monthly payments. I checked it out because it was free to play the beta and wanted to have a go at it in anticipation of it going F2P. I was playing with three other friends and we were all on the same page.
To be honest we were all fairly disappointed in the experience. The story was great but I found the combat/animations to be hollow and unexciting, and the graphics/style horrible. I have been played Guild Wars on and off for 5 years and feel that game looks better.
Right now I am having a great time playing DC on-line. For free! As a DC fan I have no complaints. Hopefully I be playing SWTOR for free in about a years time. If not....no biggie I have other things to occupy my time.
This does indeed look awesome. When I first heard that ToR was going to be a MMO I was very skeptical. I loved KOTOR and didn't see how they could make such a great story based game into a MMO. Everything in this article is good news!!
"just be another generic shooter"??? I can see you saying it doesn't really show enough to get excited, but I am sure it will not be a generic shooter. COD4 certainly wasn't. It was COD "like" though. The big question is what will they do to differentiate this and improve it from the other COD games. I am excited to see what they have in store!!!
This may all be moot as it looks like Konami has canceled the game. Oh well maybe it will be picked up but a smaller company less afraid of the controversy.
ReaperOfDarkness: Agree 100% regarding the +'s of realism. I am not pro war by any means and did not agree with going into Iraq (hay every one's free to have an opinion), but giving a real glimpse of what our men and women face over there is a good thing. Especially if it is done working closely with those who actually faced the shit on the ground.
If you didn't have a problem with COD4 (not bad, but completely unrealistic) your a total hypocrite to bitch about this.
I like adult games for adults. This looks like it could be good if done right, and in a respectful way, for the Marines, civilians, etc. I guess thats the big if.
I am sure if my son died over there I would be pissed no matter how it was handled.
Mixed Messages looks unbelievably LAME!! I find it almost imposable that someone could watch that and say "wow that looks like fun. I want me some of that !"
I kept thinking it made more sense as a late April Fool's joke.
By the way that's not Sam Fisher...all it is, is a dude with night vision goggles. His helmet is interesting though, looks kinda like the ProTec helmets warn by spec. ops (e.g. DELTA). Also at 1:16 you see 2 "Little Bird" helicopters used for close air support....and target insertion by special ops teams (e.g. Delta). Interesting.........
Good stuff!! I have always been baffled by the paintball and go-cart games. Glad to see I am not alone. By the way "all the speed of Karting" that cracks me up.I can go experience "all the speed of a Karting" in my Honda on the way to work.
Very funny stuff....well untel Ikaris that is. You did warn us though. I find it unfathomable that someone thought that was a good idea. WOW! Just plan terible!!!
Funny article. By the way, I hate to tell you, but B-52s along with many other USAF fighter aircraft were painted with modified forest or jungle camo through the first gulf war. I'm just saying.......
