Ha ha ha, funny, guys. I have always appreciated your collective fearlessness in the way of comedic articles in your news updates. One of the things that keeps me comming back.
I am a little interested, and I will be keeping an eye on it, but I DON'T CARE ABOUT NUDITY! A game should be based around GAMEPLAY, and I'll need to see good gameplay before I say yes.
I am 16, and own mature games, but I am very annoyed when my neighbor bitches and moans because she bought her kid a mature rated game that clearly says, "Hey! I'll probably not be good for your 8 year old kid, so be careful!" and then suddenly, it's the creator's fault! If you're young and have mature games, whatever! I don't care! That's cool if your mature enough for them (the rating is MATURE!), but if your not, it really could be bad for a kid. I say this, because when walking down the street from the library in your home town, you don't see a guy getting his head blown off. that is why we have the rating system. If you bought you kid Manhunt because you, being the parent, you made a moronic choice, it may be the store's fault if they saw you were buying a game like Grand Theft Auto for a kid and didn't state to the naieve parent or guardian "Hey, are you sure you want this? It is adult oriented", like they should, but, it is mostly the parent's fault. "Wait," you may ask, "Why would it be the legal guardian's fault?" I would reply with "Becase, they are the LEGAL GUARDIAN! They are RESPOSIBLE for their minor until the minor is an adult!" I know this will sound rude, but if you are a kid, and have a gory, adult, or oterwise mature game, well, thats cool, and I'm glad that you've got a cool game that you enjoy, but you're not special, you are like a lot of kids your age, and would be a smaller demographic if you were heavily monitored by your Guardian.
"* Stars of the least good Pixar animation"?!
Ratat...Ouille? Whatever it was called, it was great! It was better than goddamn WALL-E and Finding Nemo!
Also, I'm not criticising, unless GR took those pictures themselves, but some of this was hard to look at as an pro animal rights person. And isn't Cundy a vegetarian for crying out loud? (or is that Justin? Or both? I can't tell!)
Why not just point us to Generation Kill?
Considering IW obviously learnt most of their terms from it and pilfered everything else for that second level with the humvees...
The airport one strikes me as nottaplothole. It's possible I missed something in the briefing, but how well known would Makarov's face have been?
(Hell, Zakhaev was standing in the background of the filmed execution of Vagueistan's president in Modern Warfare 1 and no one figured out he was involved till Price got a phone call. I'm guessing that despite their big followings, they aren't exactly paparazzi whores)
I also question the MAD thing. I mean, Russia got in a surprise attack. Do you really think America would then fire nukes, even at the point of defeat, knowing they would immediately be killed right back? Surely even Americans would rather live under the rule of Russia than ALL just die.
Crazy geekery over, I enjoyed the article. (although I think it was entirely suggested by someone in the comments of the Top 7 this week)
The logic of the Army of Two one was great and also hilarious. As was the picture.
Much like what I said in the compilatory Episodes from Liberty City review; I dunno if anyone will even see my comment, but there's a few mistakes there.
It's Yusuf Amir not Aziz. And Luis' "unseen" booty call is a girl you hooked up with in the club. (whom you obviously saw at the time)
Either way, still think Reparez gave these GTAIV expansions some solid reviews. Almost enough to make me forgive him for Assassin's Creed. Almost.
Dunno if anyone will even see this, but the start of this review about disc-exclusives should probably be amended. Apparently there are radio stations only on the disc version. Like Vice City FM.
Otherwise; good review.
The torture part raised an eyebrow. But it is all "ticking-time-bomb", 100% guilty suspect (moreso than something out of 24) and also fiction.
Do think you're making too big a deal about the Fight Against Grenade Spam thing. I mean, they didn't even point out the acronym or anything. I didn't even notice it. And hell, Team America got away with the same joke. (related; South Park recently tried to redefine the word)
I see the point about it being a sensitive word given the Xbox Live landscape, but I think the people that use it likely aren't hateful or prejudiced, they're just really stupid and try desperately to offend.
(While I'm being tl;dr, I was also meaning to say that although I enjoy all the articles on MW2, as it has a lot of attention to detail...I feel like us GR readers have been cheated out of these sorts of features for Episodes from Liberty City. And for that matter, Uncharted 2. There was loads of nice little touches, secrets and attention to detail in those games too.)
First article this week I actually liked. It was interesting and funny in a wrong but still funny kind of way. Nicely linked to gaming too.
(Not just full of Kingdom Hearts nonsense. Oblivious to the fact that the majority of KH fans are in it for the Final Fantasy characters or "original" Final-Fantasy-esque characters and plots. Gah.)
I remember being upset at the Lion King one when I was little, but less due to the horrific death and more due to me liking Mufasa and the fact he could have been saved. DAMN YOU, SCAR!
