Whether good or bad, the sprite trees are just unforgivable in this day and age. Is it a PS3 thing where foliage just doesn't work? Red Dead Redemption had less of it on the PS3. A 7 sounds about right for this. The score is for the whole package. The gameplay on EDF was sublime, the rest a bit shocking so the score reflected this. I do like how the PS3 bods who spent a long time shouting out about this being a Forza killer, suddenly have found the art of quiet |

@coryrx8 To be fair he flamed me on a non comment, so I feel justified in discussing the minute size of his party taters. I also don't see cocky and arrogant being the same. I see arrogant as a negative attribute, while cocky has shades of a bit ooh and a bit aah, wide boy with some redeeming features. I don't see them squandering the goodwill as they are adverts aimed to be a bit funny to try and make people buy a product. Why do fanbois seem to think any company owes them something, they don't, If the PS3 launched with killers apps and a decent price point do you really, really think the concept of arrogance would come into it? Like 'Wow there are 10 must play games and , and.... I can afford it, but no I reject their arrogance and so will only play a old Megadrive' Do you really believe that? Nobody would give a cheap crack whore's rattling dry fart if the price and games were right. So simply put, you and @violate are just wrong. Anthropomorphizing a company just shows a lack of maturity and understanding. Attacking or defending a console or company has no relevance, they are not your friends. The easy answer is this.... if you think the ads are so bad and Sony (the big successful company who don't know you)never buy one of their products again. Or accept a harmless add campaign that tried to be a but risque didn't hit some fanbabies demographic. You know the crusty bits in the corner of a tramps eyes? Thats you mum that is |

@violate To be fair Sony are a company selling a product, so what else do you expect them to do? Will they look at a successful product and say ..."oooooooh no we don't want any of that pie, our shareholders would hate it if we looked like we were being cocky. In fact lets take some of our share dividend and give it to nintendo to apologise for the fact we even considered it!!" Can't see it myself. What about the adverts? "Buy a move it is a direct ripoff of the Wii remote. In fact just buy a wii or kinect because the tech is better, sorry we ever thought of it" To put it simply Do Sony have to be so fucking cocky has a simple answer ... yes to maintain market share based on their initial branding of the PS1 and 2 Do we need motion control faggotry would also be yes because a the wii sold and b Sony probably have a good idea of what sells in the market Have to agree that I am not sure if we need a 40+ year old actor riding Sony's cock I could give a miss on. I suppose if it was tastefully done with good camera work and a nice script I might watch. A brief history of video game piracy |

Being born in the tail end of the sixties I grew up with computers. My first was a ZX81, second a Speccie. Casual piracy was totally the norm. c90 tapes with 30 games on them, everybody had them. I remember being promised a 'Stereo' for chrismas and do jobs so my mum would buy the twin deck simply to copy games. I come from a place called Evesham, the home of Evesham micros. I remember a couple of the saturday lads (when it was a single shop) would copy the games for you and sell them for 50p a game if you supplied the tape. I region modded my Master Systems and Megadrive. I even have a couple of Cart to Disc copiers for the SNES. Different world then. Now I my consoles are vanilla but as a kid growing up there were no rules Thems was the days!!! |

Length doesn't bother me at all. What I hate are unnecessary difficulty spikes/stupid boss fights. If you have ever played the original Soldier of Fortune you will know what I mean. Nice game all the way through, final boss suddenly has a completely bullet proof suit, which means about a 1000 rounds. WTF. Any any time during a game if it just feels stupid I stop. Don't mind difficult, I like friggin hard, just when it feels out of place does my head in |

I like the article a lot but sort of disagree with a lot of it. I stopped playing online after quake 3/ BF42 mainly because of the things you quoted. While not cheating, using exploits, spamming, raping etc doesn't feel right to me. I play to enjoy, not to win. We didn't win the war because somebody knew the one best sniping spot, it was more a free for all with individual skill being only a part of it. Online now is often just no fun if you have a life, kids, job etc, unless it is with people you know. I wish somebody would set up a gentlemans club where elderly gamers like myself could just drop in and out and have a good killzap without having to devote my life to it. @RebornKusabi.. 6 most important game consoles of all time ever |

I think I know why PS3 fanbunnies are the most rapid, immature and ill informed. With the PS1 sony really did have the 'best' console on the market with the 'best' games. This let emotionally retarded ickle children have a (justified) sense of superiority. However after Xbox went against PS2 the superiority gap started to disappear , and in fact probably ceased to exist. With PS3 and 360 there is actually no real difference. If you took screenshots from both systems of an unknown game, most people wouldn't be able to see a difference. The sony playbabies only see what they have lost, the rest see what they have gained. And this last bit isn't meant to be trolling but does anybody know the age make-up of console players? |

Hells teeth I just vomited by spleen It would be nice if you whiney ps3 fanboys could actually learn to read and further more understand what the words mean (oh and also got a girlfriend... you know a real one). The article is about consoles which where a paradigm shift. These consoles offered something to gaming which didn't go before. As good as the PS3 is, and it is a great console, it does nothing new. It just does everything better than before. Blue ray isn't anything new, it is just the next evolution of the DVD. Xbox live is the first console to make online activity an inherent part of the console experience. I love the Dreamcast, I even modded one, but online was a bit shite even during its heyday. Wii does have cruddy graphics, but you have to be a drooling brain dead freak to not understand that it bought gaming to the masses again. The last time I remember a family get together around a game was the Hobbit on the spectrum. While you HaRdCoRe MoFos don't rate families playing, the games business has changed because of the Wii and do you fanboys have a monopoly on gaming because you think the games you play are somehow more worthy? Try to have a grown up debate, or go and get your nappy changed Rant just starting |

I totally agree with this article. The in fighting is very different to any other game. It is any of your enemies fighting anybody else. In Halo the flood fought anybody, it isn't the covenant against covenant. Also the exploits were accidents, they weren't cheats or developer modes, they were proper errors which you could use to your advantage (or just die). Would quite like it though if you could have ended the piece with something like... I would give Windows Solitaire 160% because I like the colours and Fallout 3 is shit because of the animation of my finger They make me laugh |

Never liked boss battles at all, always seemed to be an intrusion in the fiction created. I like the original call of duty, it always felt to me that the epic battles were boss battles in disguise. The mission where you defended the bridge was in many ways a BB, shoot this bit repeatedly, shoot another bit repeat ad nauseum, but it never felt like a chore, it was genuinely exciting abd beating felt like you had survivived a battle, not managed to survive a boss. I judge it by how I feel at the end. If I am glad to get to the end then it is shite, if I am sad to get to the end then it is epic |

I've got a feeling it isn't the game but the feeling. Being an old fart I remember these games when they were new. If I give an example of Way of the Exploding Fist on the speccie. I used to play this with my brother and it was incredible, a proper fighting game that rewarded skill. The first time round the sense of wonder with it blew me away. Roll on nearly 30 years and I recently played it again. Everything was the same but I had lost the sense of wander. I could play it straight off and be pretty kick ass but it had lost the feeling. Scroll forward to the first time I played the original Unreal, mental, same sense of disbelief and wonder. Played again and it is still great but no feeling. I think the FF series is like this. FF felt like nothing else and not just gameplay, more the idea that you were playing something special. After so much repetition the sense of special has gone I think. It has to either evolve or die. And quite frankly 80ll0x to the fanboys. If you want FFxii play it Until it feels right again it can't be right. |
