MacGyver1138 commented on: Which villains will appear in Batman: Arkham Asylum 2? |
| The idea of an isolated area similar to the first game is probably necessary, but I really want to see Rocksteady's take on Gotham City, so I would love to see at least part of the game there. Even if it is only an intro fight or final boss fight, it would be nice to see the Dark Knight in his element. As far as villains, they really do have lots of choices that they set up in the first game. Personally, I could see Two-Face, The Penguin, or Scarecrow being the main villain, with lots of minor villains similar to the first game. Scarecrow would actually give the developers an excuse to have a portion of Gotham "quarantined" which would be the isolated area they need to have the feeling of the first game, but with a new setting. Also, seeing as how Batman uses fear so much, he makes an interesting villain to play off of. An entirely new villain created for the game would be interesting as well, though I don't know how well that would tie in with all of the existing villains sure to show up. |

| I would add one to the list: Goldeneye for the N64. Like many on your list, it wasn't the first of its kind, but it did revolutionize FPS games on the consoles and proved they could be done well, which paved the way for Halo, Resistance, COD, a million other console shooters, etc. | |

MacGyver1138 commented on: What are the favourite 'types' of people used on video game box-art? |
| @StrayGator: I was wondering the same thing. I would think a lot of manga/anime characters would be considered Asian or Oriental, which would make them non-white. (Though I have never really understood that, as many Asian people have skin tone that is almost identical to the "typical" white person.) | |

| I love how far videogames have come, but I do miss the days of the arcade. There was something cool about the community aspect, and being able to play any of the dozens (or more) games you wanted, all in one place. I just wish that my parents hadn't always made me feel like I had wasted money every time I went. *sniff* | |

| Failureisinevitable, that was an impressive post. You were wrong about Halo 3's ending though; it did happen after the credits had rolled. Up to that point, the game ending made Master Chief appear dead. Sage62 is right about Madworld's credits being hilarious. I would like to see some more inventive credit sequences. They can be a memorable way to end a game. |

MacGyver1138 commented on: The Top 7... E3 announcements you missed |
| Microsoft really, REALLY needs to let users add their own drives to the 360, or at least offer larger, fairly-priced drives. They are continuing their effort towards offering good content available for download, but a lot of us Xbox owners only have 20GB of space. I am unwilling to buy their 120GB HDD for 140 bucks, when a regular 120GB laptop HDD (which is what is used in the 360) can be had for 40 or 50 bucks. MS is doing a lot of things right, but this is one area that Sony has done far better in. |

MacGyver1138 commented on: E3 09: Mario Galaxy 2 sums up Nintendo's wrongs |
| I don't know. I don't really think that every Mario game has been a whole lot more innovative than those before. The Doki-Doki Panic version of SMB2 that we got in the States was a big change, but that wasn't the original plan, and the Japanese version was essentially a harder version of SMB. Also, SM Sunshine wasn't much different than SM64, other than updated graphics and the stupid paint-washing FLUDD mechanic. We've been through these and still have decent Mario games, so I think that Nintendo could pull it off. It should be a good game, so long as they don't try to water it down for casual appeal. |

| Man, this E3 has shown a bunch of great games. I really look forward to the second Just Cause. The first one had its flaws, but it was a heck of a lot of fun and boasted some excellent draw distances. With any luck, the flaws from the first will be polished out, and it will be even more fun to play with the grappling hook and parachute. I just hope they still let you drive/fly absolutely EVERY vehicle like the first one did. I was pleasantly surprised to hop in and fly the giant cargo plane, only to crash it on a crowded bridge! |

| I'm a huge fan of Luxoflux, for Vigilante 8 and its sequel. Maybe they can actually pull out a decent movie tie-in game. It's a shame that they are going to be on a tight schedule in order to ship it around the same time as the movie comes out. It would no doubt be better if they were able to release it "when it's done." | |

| Mike Tyson's Punch Out still gets quite a bit of play from me. It is still so challenging that it remains fun. I also play Contra quite a bit for the same reason (also Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select.) I even occasionally go back to the original Donkey Kong. MacGyver1138 commented on: The Top 7 hated habits of the mainstream media |
| Seeing some of these things brings my blood to a boil. If the media were shown to have been so blatantly WRONG in most other cases, they would get jumped on and made to look like fools. Yet we see and hear them repeatedly bashing games for all kinds of things that end up being untrue, and there is barely an apology in sight. I love that Geoff Keilly got the point across to at least one media moron, but I'd like to see that happen more often. I also cannot stand the double standard between games and movies. Movies can contain murder, sex, nudity, rape, foul language, and horrific acts of violence and be called art. If a game does the same thing, it is blamed for the downfall of society. Great article, and hopefully something that will be seen by someone in the mainstream media. (Fat chance!) |

MacGyver1138 commented on: How much money do videogame movies actually make? |
| It is pretty interesting to see this represented with actual numbers. The worst part about most of these is that the game stories have potential to be pretty good movies. Max Payne especially disappointed me, as they could have just followed the game storyline and thrown in some slow motion gunfights and it would have been decent. It would have been better than the convoluted mess that got made instead. |

MacGyver1138 commented on: The most misleading game ads of all time |
| It does suck to be mislead by ads, but the marketing often works. I can say that I was grabbed by the Halo 3 and Perfect Dark ads when I first saw them (though I was already planning to buy both of those games.) The whole CG graphics or showing screens from a more powerful console are the worst, if you ask me. Those truly seem aimed to mislead, whereas the ones involving real actors, miniature, etc. are obviously not intended to represent actual gameplay. |

| The Lurcher is absolutely right. Just because you say, "Nice article" doesn't mean we won't report you if your comment is completely devoid of relevance. I totally agree with the article. I don't particularly understand the extreme division on games, but it seems the most notable with big console exclusives. I'm actually surprised that MGS4 or GOW2 weren't on the list. Those are two that also seem to be love or hate, based mostly on console "fanboyism." |

I'm not much of a fighting game fan, (mostly because I got stupid-frustrated by getting worked back in the SF II days) but it always strikes me as funny at how there is all of this etiquette you should follow when playing a fighter. I can't think of another genre where there is so much backlash for using moves built in to the game. I'm not saying I don't agree, it just stands out to me. |
