The cheapest and best places to buy Nintendo 3DS in the UK
You forgot Blockbuster - They're offering trade ins on all models of DS and £46 of blockbuster vouchers with the pre-order. (Nice enough to buy yourself a game with.) I think their price is around £209, £10 deposit. I can't remember their trade in prices for all the current DS consoles, but they were very reasonable. For me, the £46 of vouchers clinched it, alongside being able to trade in my battered, but working 1st gen DS. (It wouldn't even stay open; I'd dropped it on the floor and it kinda snapped, but it was still in working order!) They're not to be sniffed at.

Final Fantasy XIV (PC): Final Fantasy XIV review
Hm. I'll request another review when the PS3 version comes out, when the game is actually finished. Potentially, this is just a (paid) open beta. They have plans to fix those bugs you mentioned in there, such as the auction house and interface systems, so just give it a little time before jumping on the hate wagon, ok?

Final Fantasy XIV (PS3): Final Fantasy XIV isn't very good - please play it for another month
I play FFXIV, and to be honest the bugs and all aren't quite so bad. I've been playing it since alpha, back in march, but... not a lot has changed since then. Yes, there's no inventory sort function, yes there is a bit of lag (which they have improved on since the opening of the servers, and plan to improve on further) but regardless, all the problems are minor in comparison to the effort they've put into the game. If there's anyone out there waiting to play FFXIV; you may as well get started now. Yes, it's got its faults, but they really are simply minor right now. The coming updates are set to solve the problems, so don't have too much beef. Moreover, there are many systems in place to stop Gilsellers, which is an improvement on FFXI (it took them literally years to come up with an anti fish-bot system) and while there is no auction house, there will be a search function in the market wards within the coming updates. TLDR; My advice is to stick it out. P.S; Gamesradar... 30 days is enough for an improvement, but to fix everything you'll need to wait until December. Moreover, Chocobos are still Chocobos. "Horsebirds" refers to their occupation, as it were. For example, "Pack Mule".

9 things real female gamers hate about gaming
Completely agree. The gender stereotypes placed upon both male and female have become quite the problem in the gaming world, and your smarmy article here does nothing but reinforce that fact. Respect to you, and all girl gamers out there. I apologise for all male-kind on their behalf; I feel disgusted to be labelled with such pigs.

Sexualisation of games characters
Let me copy-paste my appropriate comment from the "Is this the future of gaming for women?" I agree with all of you, though the problem lies not only with games but with the media in general. If you look at advertising, negative gender roles and stereotypes are reinforced through semiotics and constant bombardment of visual keys though the visual language in which they are portrayed. For example, sticking a 'sexy woman' on something to gain sales is a negative stereotype upon women, saying that 'you have to look like this / act like this to be attractive to men', while on the flipside it is saying to men 'this is what you want, you sad perverted single-minded fool'. It happens all the time, and is intended to stir into our 'base desires' and such. It's all lies at the end of the day, as each person is an individual. Girl gamers have the stereotype of wanting to play games to do with what their gender stereotypes say they 'should' want to play. Until the industry (and we, the public) recognises that these metaphysical walls can be smashed, (praise to portal here for non-sexualised and non-gender-specific gameplay) I'm afraid we're stuck with the compromise of gender-specifically aimed games. Things are changing slowly with the rise of androgyny and gender equality, and we may just see in our lifetimes a true shift into games truly for everyone, but the same can be said for books, movies, TV shows, and all other forms of media. If the companies don't target their main demographic, they fail. Simple as that. As such, they simply have to test the water before making a massive leap into something; it's for their own safety. Hold tight, girl gamers, things are changing.
