Really? REALLY? Are you just trying to troll us all here with some games we've never even heard of? No Final Fantasy XIV? I know you guys have a pet hate for it, but really. REALLY. My respect. You just lost it.
Huh. Well, what d'ya know. This really annoyed me this morning. Citing from a third party isn't the most academic way of sourcing things. Still, I've played FFXIV from Alpha, through to beta, and finally for the release. I'm still playing it every day, too. Sure, there are still problems, but in the next patch alone we're getting an Ifrit battle, Airships, Chocobos, and a myriad of fixes and issue rebalances. The game at release was almost as bad as the Alpha, however Yoshi-p has so far done a bang-up job of fixing the game on an almost inconceivable timeframe. I challenge you to start playing, GR, after the next patch. Let us know what you think now changes have started taking place.
Yeah, I saw that. Really though, the kind of people who actually believe what they read in the sun are teenage mothers and builders. Oh, and the elderly. And my mother, simply because of the ridiculous amount of gin she never ceases to consume.
You forgot Blockbuster - They're offering trade ins on all models of DS and £46 of blockbuster vouchers with the pre-order. (Nice enough to buy yourself a game with.) I think their price is around £209, £10 deposit. I can't remember their trade in prices for all the current DS consoles, but they were very reasonable. For me, the £46 of vouchers clinched it, alongside being able to trade in my battered, but working 1st gen DS. (It wouldn't even stay open; I'd dropped it on the floor and it kinda snapped, but it was still in working order!) They're not to be sniffed at.
Hm. I'll request another review when the PS3 version comes out, when the game is actually finished. Potentially, this is just a (paid) open beta. They have plans to fix those bugs you mentioned in there, such as the auction house and interface systems, so just give it a little time before jumping on the hate wagon, ok?
I play FFXIV, and to be honest the bugs and all aren't quite so bad. I've been playing it since alpha, back in march, but... not a lot has changed since then. Yes, there's no inventory sort function, yes there is a bit of lag (which they have improved on since the opening of the servers, and plan to improve on further) but regardless, all the problems are minor in comparison to the effort they've put into the game. If there's anyone out there waiting to play FFXIV; you may as well get started now. Yes, it's got its faults, but they really are simply minor right now. The coming updates are set to solve the problems, so don't have too much beef. Moreover, there are many systems in place to stop Gilsellers, which is an improvement on FFXI (it took them literally years to come up with an anti fish-bot system) and while there is no auction house, there will be a search function in the market wards within the coming updates. TLDR; My advice is to stick it out. P.S; Gamesradar... 30 days is enough for an improvement, but to fix everything you'll need to wait until December. Moreover, Chocobos are still Chocobos. "Horsebirds" refers to their occupation, as it were. For example, "Pack Mule".
I remember when I was a mere child and managed to get my filthy mitts on one of those 12-in-one games for £2. I also remember how terribly filthy it made me feel at the time!
Hear hear. Moneygrabbing Microsoft once again show us their talent of bringing out another way to take out funds from our coffers, into theirs. My prediction: mediocre fail.
