JohnDD commented on: The Top 7... Maddest British old-school games |
| This is why I love UK and Jap games - US games are too RAWK AN ROLL! HELL YEAH I HATE Y'ALL British music in the 80s was pioneering, just like the 80s games scene (must have been something in the water back then). I like my games to be unique. Another great read from the Houghton - thanks. |

| LOL Fantastic article - brought back fond memories. I think UK Radar journos are so much wittier and funnier than US ones (sorry US ones). Recaptcha: rected novocain (the dentist from hell) |

| Driller, for the Spectrum 48k. A whole, actual, living, breathing, moving, 3D world crammed into 48k of memory! It was this game made me realise 3D was the way forward!!! For once, the hype lived up to it's name and it blew me away - well worth the £8.99 full price! |

| That Amiga version: it cannot be a standard A500? Must have been for A1200 or the CD32. Great article btw, but unfortunately I suffer from motion sickness so I only watched the first minute of each - I'd rather have SF2 or Tetris as the ultimate fanboys test. recaptcha: donlin progressing (wtf is a donlin and does it really have to progress? Sounds like something Number 5 from Short Circuit would say) |

JohnDD commented on: A brief history of cheats |
| LOL - amusing article! I love cheats coz these days I have a life outside of games (but sometimes I wish I was geeky/nerdy/cool enough to play eat sleep games 24/7) - it's called a job - so having an appropriate cheat means I can "play" it to get more value. But I love cheats coz they're more like easter eggs. Just fun things to twiddle with. "swindle honest cheaters" LOL |

| 14. There aren't enough of these events covered on TV (2 mins on the BBC does not count). 15. Nowhere near as glitzy or glamourous as Film, TV, or Music awards (both sides of the Atlantic). |

JohnDD commented on: QOTW: What's your fondest Sega memory? |
| It's gotta be the Dreamcast because: - online play (Chu Chu Rocket, Quake, Phantasy Star Online) - voice recognition (albeit one game, but phew, WHAT A GAME!) - beautiful yet quirky and "out the box" games (Jet Set/Grind Radio, Rez, Seaman, Cosmic Smash) - Sega's arcade games (Daytona, F355, the Virtua games, House of the Dead) Then, when it was announced that it was to be discontinued, I snapped up as many games (EU, US, and JP) and peripherals as possible, but I was also able to easily play - with EASE - so much homebrew and emus! The joy to discover the Megadrive/Genesis and Master System back catalogue! A fantastic all round system - such a shame it never fully realised the potential, and what wonders Sega would have if they were still in the hardware business. |

JohnDD commented on: 22 brilliant Dreamcast games doomed to die |
| I remember going into Game when the PS2 just came out, and asked "what good games are there on the PS2?". He couldn't answer, he had to keep looking back at the shelves of PS2 games. This truly shows what strong marketing means to companies (not just games related ones) and what it means to the general popluation. |

JohnDD commented on: The return of the Dreamcast: Why it could work |
| Lets face it - it aint gonna happen :( Sega may make wonderful games, but they're TERRIBLE business men. Yeah yeah yeah, Megadrive/Genesis was a success blah blah etc, but that's in days when the industry was a bit more innocent and far less cut throat. DC #2 would be extremely niche, what with M$, $ony, and Nin£endo, throwing HUUUGE amounts of money at their respective marketing machines in order to keep those machines in our faces and minds (and wallets). They have us by the balls. Sega are doing just fine now that they're a major software player. I love my DC to bits, still have it and will never get rid of it. Too many fond memories, too many games for it. |
